we had to wait outside his office for ten minutes before we were admitted
"my apologies, i don't particularly like making my officers wait, but the report on your capabilities had to be sent, now even the dissenters who didn't like you being pressed into service are quieting down" the man said quite pleased with himself
"i see" i said
"that being said, a decision was reached and while you having the abilities that sword will bring you is important, there are things that will need to be done first, i have asked the Dr. weather you could safely use that spear of yours in the meantime, since she said you were capable we can move forward, now we are bending some rules when it comes to you simply so we can prepare for the recovery mission of your sword, first you are getting a commission of major within our military, the highest rank i can press you into service, since you aren't a citizen of the nation, nor have you gone to the academy for any length of time, now as to the rules i am bending, i am placing you in command of the thanatos, a dominus-class heavy frigate, the ship is one of many stationed here, you will take her to the world of krivale, where your new CO is waiting, lieutenant since you two have been partnered you have been named the new major's XO, i wish you both luck, any questions" the marshal said handing me my orders, we looked at each other and shook our heads
"good, dismissed, lieutenant your new vessel is at dock B3" the man said she nodded
"dismissed" he said as we left
"looks like i'll need to get in uniform" she said mostly to herself after we left the office, and the door closed behind them
"come on, i'll lead the way to the docking port" she said as she led the way, seeing the ship in person it was as huge as i expected it be after hearing it could house three smaller ships in it's hanger, there were two guards at the docking port
"HALT, who goes there" the left guard demanded
"lieutenant lysseilia, escorting major fuyuhito shinosuke to his new command" lysseilia said
"of course, welcome to the thanatos major, we have been expecting you" the guard said i nodded in thanks
"get aboard we will be launching shortly" lysseilia said, the guard nodded as they let us pass before coming aboard themselves and sealing the airlock as she led the way through the ship
"this may be a bit overwhelming, so you can lean on me a bit, it is quite common for commanders to give their XOs orders, which their XO would relay, some commanders don't have the air of command that their XO does" lysseilia said
"thanks, i didn't expect to get command of a ship" i said
"it was necessity, we couldn't give the lead of recovery mission to anyone but you since none of us know what your world is like or what to expect, you at least have some idea" she said
"that is true enough i guess" i said, as stopped before a door
"this is the captains quarters, through that door at the end of the hall is the main turbolift which will take you to the bridge, after we get underway i can give you a proper tour, for now the both of us need to get into uniform, so you get started and i'll be back in a minute to help you get your rank insignia properly in place, and such" lysseilia said, i nodded, as i entered the room
the captain's quarters was a rather large room, about the size of a small one-bedroom apartment, it had it's own kitchen which pleased me, as i moved to the bedroom of the captain's quarters i found three sets of uniforms waiting for me, to my surprise they fit me perfectly like a glove
the uniform consisted of a white undershirt, covered by a black double-breasted tailcoat, with golden buttons, black trousers, with black formal dress shoes, a pair of white parade gloves, a web belt, housing a holster for a gun, and a ceremonial blade, which shinji was surprised to see was a katana, as he finished putting on his uniform and stretching into to remove the creases their was a chime, which shinji guessed as a doorbell, he guessed right as went and commanded the door open from a side panel
"you could have just called for me to enter, the computer would have relayed it" lysseilia said
"still learning" i said, she nodded
"fair, may i come in" she asked i stepped aside, and she stepped in, as she walked in i got a good look at her, as she was wearing her uniform
which consisted of a black double-breasted tailcoat, similar to my own except made to fit a female body, instead of the black trousers i was wearing she was wearing a black pleated skirt that went down her thighs, instead of the formal wear shoes, she wore a pair of thigh-high-heel boots, a pair of white parade gloves like me, she also wore the web belt with the same holster, but her ceremonial blade was that of saber
"huh, i knew the fabrication process for melee weapons was quick but that was really quick" lysseilia said noticing the sword at my hip
"why did they get me a katana though" i asked
"so that is what your sword is called" she said i nodded, she drew her saber
"take a look at that" she said i did so and noticed it was sharp
"despite being ceremonial blades, they can be used in live combat in a pinch, we used to carry true ceremonial weapons, but we keep being boarded, by numerous different enemies, why didn't you holster your sidearm" she asked curiously
"it wasn't with my uniform" i said
"didn't you explore your quarters at all" she asked i shook my head
"go into your bedroom open the bottom drawer of your nightstand" she said, i did as she was told and found a box with a revolver inside

remembering Kensuke's words i marveled at the weapon, it looked to fire 12.7×55mm cartridge
"these people don't mess around do they" i muttered as i holstered the weapon, it looked like i would be using this ships gun range, i hoped it had one, i returned to the main living room
"normally people use beam pistols, but since you potentially come from a world that doesn't have that, we found the strongest projectile handgun we could find, which was the tyrant magnum, there are several officers who in fact prefer it to standard beam pistols" she said
"i see, i must admit it did feel good in the hand" i said, which was true i rather liked hefting the weapon, she nodded
"we have two separate gun ranges aboard, one specifically for officers, and one for the average crew, we also have another two training facilities to train in on close quarters combat" she said
"good news for me is that a couple of years ago, three by this point i think, i took kendo training so i just have to remember how to use my new blade, instead of learning it from scratch" i said
"oh, would you mind a spar then, it's rare i find people willing to spar with me, they have a misconception, that us dragons have an unfair advantage to them and while we are silently faster and stronger, then our non-dragon counterparts, it is not nearly enough that it become impossible for us to lose" she said
"well, sure then, but as i said i have to remember a good many of these skills i haven't picked up a blade a little less then three years" i said
"i'll go easy on you, we can do that after our tour first we need to report to the bridge, i can give orders for you, but you still need to be present and at least somewhat look like your in charge, to inform you ahead of time, the command chair is at the central back of the bridge, the officer in charge will leave the chair upon our arrival, so look for that" lysseilia said i nodded as we made our way to the bridge
