I walk out and join the others a little away from the house, helping them gather big rocks for Otis's funeral by the trees.

I freeze and quickly look over to the road once I hear the sound of his motorcycle engine.

Everyone else looks over too and sees Daryl riding his motorcycle up the road with Shane's car and the RV following behind.

I instantly tear up and swallow the lump in my throat.

"Shit..." I whisper and look down

Shane glances over at me and I see him swallow and look down sadly too.

We all quickly finish then walk back over to the house and everyone waits in front.

I go up the stairs and stand on the porch, trying to hide a little

'You can't just avoid him Y/n...' I think to myself

The vehicles pull up on the grass in front of the house and everyone gets out.

He keeps his eyes on me the whole time as he gets off his motorcycle.

I swallow then sigh and walk down the steps, meeting him halfway.

"I'm sor--"

He cuts me off by quickly wrapping his arm around my shoulders, the other one around my waist, and pulling me into a tight hug.

"Don't ya ever fucking dare do shit like that again..." He mumbles into my hair

"Okay, I'm sorry" I hug him back

"How is he?" Dale asks

"He'll pull through. Thanks t-to Hershel a-and his people--" Lori nods

"And Shane" rick cuts her off

I pull away from Daryl and look away with my arms crossed.

"We'd have lost Carl if not for him" Rick says

Dale opens his arms and hugs Rick for a minute while Carol hugs lori.

"Thank god. We were so worried" Carol says

"How'd it happen?" Dale asks

"Hunting accident. That's it-- Just a...stupid accident" Rick says

Everyone gets settled in and Hershel changes into a suit before we go back to where we were before, by the trees.

We set up a small mountain of rocks and keep a few in the cart.

Everyone goes up one by one grabbing a rock from the cart and placing it on the mountain of rocks out of respect.

Beth Greene, Maggie's sister, goes up and places a rock then goes back to her place before her boyfriend goes up.

"Blessed be God. Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Praise be to him for the gift of our brother, Otis..." Hershel says with the Bible in his hand

"For his span of year...for his abundance of character. Otis, who gave his life to save a child's...now more than ever, our most precious asset." Hershel continues

"We thank you, god, for the peace he enjoys in your embrace. He died as be lived...in grace..." Hershel finishs

I take a deep breath in and cross my arms, letting the breath out slowly and shakily.

"Being torn up by dead freaks isn't graceful at all..." I whisper to myself

Shane looks over at me and swallows then looks away and Daryl gently puts his hand on my back before pulling me into his side.
