(Grover's POV)

This is all my fault. I'm so, so, so, STUPID. For once, I could have been at least a little useful, even if just as bait, but I messed this up too. I froze like a deer in headlights, when this should have been easy for me. All I had to do was distract polyphemus and run, but somehow, I found a way to make things worse.

"Percy? Percy?? Hello?? Are you okay?" I ask Percy, who is still gripping onto me tightly, but now it seems like he's the one frozen. "Percy..? I'm so sorry.. This is all my fault." I assume that Percy's mad at me. Rightfully so, I guess. I can feel my eyes fill with tears and my vision is blurry. I rub my eyes softly. I shouldn't be able to cry. I basically forced Annabeth and Percy to come and save me, but I messed up the distraction. I shouldn't be the one who needs to cry. I sniffle softly in Percy's arms.

I can hear Polyphemus stomp around. There are sounds of furniture scuffing the floor of the cave. Percy's breathing becomes more labored. He's just staring off into space with a look of fear and anger stuck on his face. I feel horrible, absolutely guilty. I shouldn't have gotten him into this situation in the first place. What kind of friend does that? "Percy..?" I ask again, wrapping my arms around his neck and hugging him tightly. I feel his tears stain the dress as he pulls me closer to him. I start crying too.

"I thought I'd lost you.." Percy sobs out finally.

Wait.

What?

........

That's what he was worried about? What? Shouldn't he be mad at me? Why would..?? I cry harder.

I could live 15 fulfilling lifetimes and never deserve Percy.

I pull back, tears still streaming down my face. How could Percy ever forgive me?

There's a moment of silence between us. We just stare at each other's sobbing faces blankly.

"What would I do without you..?" I finally whisper, my voice cracking with emotion. I trace  Percy's features with my fingertips. He cracks a small smile at this. I smile back. It's at this point I notice how close him and I are. He's still holding me and our noses are touching. I kind of enjoy it.. I can feel myself blush as we inch our faces closer to each other's. I can feel his warm breath on my face. I want to stop myself.. but....

Our lips finally touch. The kiss is breathtaking. I don't think I've ever felt pure bliss before this. My hands are entangled in Percy's messy, black hair. Percy tastes like cookies. Is that weird? I don't know, and I don't care. When we finally part, we're both breathing heavily, and blushing messes. I quickly cup my hand over my mouth as I realize what we've just done.

I can hear Percy's soft chuckles, and I begin to laugh quietly too. I've almost forgotten the situation we're in. He takes my hand.

We're both silent for a few minutes, awkwardly awaiting for the other to speak, or for something to happen. How could I let this happen?! What do I do?! How could I be so careless???? What does this mean for us?.. It was probably out of impulse. It's fine! I know nothing could actually come of me and Percy.

Percy puts me down, and for the first time since he got here, I've noticed how much he's changed. He's taller than me, which feels quite weird, since the last time I've actually seen him, I was taller. Well, I am only 5'7, so I should have expected it. His hair has grown out quite a bit, and he has a few scars, which I assume were from fighting monsters.

We finally hear the shifting of a large rock. We peek over to see if Polyphemus took the bait.

YES!!

He did!!!!

We run out and find Annabeth and Clarisse, who've been in hiding  as well.

"Are you guys okay? Percy, you were right, it was a stupid id-" Annabeth starts, looking quite obviously worried.

"We're all okay now, aren't we? Let's go." Percy interrupts, scooping me up into his arms again. I can feel my face redden out of embarrassment as Annabeth and Clarisse smirk and make kissy faces at us.

"L-let's.. um.. go." I finally say, and we run out of the cave.

(Percy's POV)

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!   AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

The kiss was amazing, breathtaking, blissful, and AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH.

alarms are going off in my head. Yes, we kissed, but that doesn't mean we're dating, does it? I need to properly ask him.. I should probably be focused on getting to the ship, but I feel too preoccupied. Grover would say yes, right? I mean, why would you kiss someone then not want to pursue anything with them?

I'm still a bit embarrassed that I cried in front of Grover, but I trust him enough to not care as much. Somehow, with the mud caked on the dress, and his messy hair, he's still beautiful. I'm so glad we were reunited. He seems very light.. has he not been able to eat??

We board the boat. There's quite obviously some tension between me and Grover, and I can tell Annabeth and Clarisse are loving it. they share occasional glances and smirks as their eyes bounce between me and Grover. Grover is sitting across from me and is still a blushing mess. It's kind of cute!

Annabeth finally scoots in towards me, while Clarisse goes to Grover. I assume they're asking the same things. "So...?" Annabeth grins.

"So..?" I repeat sheepishly.

"What happened in the cave?!" Annabeth does one of those 'loud-whispers'.

"Uhh...." I mumble, not knowing if I should tell her. She shakes me by the shoulders.

"TELL ME." She yells madly.

"Shh!!" I hiss at her. "I'll tell you if you just shut up!" she innocently smiles and waits.

"Okay, now tell me..." She slyly smirks.

"We.. um.. might of.. kissed.." I trail off, saying the last part very quietly.

"YESS!!" Annabeth yells. "The ship has sailed!" This earns a very suspicious look from Grover, and a snort from Clarisse. "T-this ship, I mean.." Annabeth saves herself, gesturing to the boat we're on. She sits back down quickly. "Tell. me. everything." She demands.

"Would it be too much to wait until we get back?" I ask.

"Fine.. but when we get back, you WILL tell me everything."

I'm so sorry, I felt like this was underwhelming. I will try to do better in further chapters.
