EMMA IVY MELLARK BAIRD WAS THE GRANDDAUGHTER OF A VICTOR. Growing up on horror stories told by her mother and grandmothers, she hardly knew what to expect. Everything she knew would go out the window, however, the minute she steps on that train car.

In the fifty or so years that Coriolanus Snow had been president of Panem, things had drastically changed—especially the Hunger Games. Anything she learnt about her grandmother's experience in the Hunger Games was worthless. Now, she had to rely on her district partner, Dusty Thistle and her mentor Haymitch Abernathy.

The games seemed to be purposefully rigged against Emmy Ivy, now it's up to her to rise to the president's challenge and prove once and for all that Snow shouldn't mess with Bairds.
