"I just need a touchup," Mum said as she took a seat.
Anne nodded and grabbed a pair of scissors. I sat down near the window, grabbed a magazine off the small table in front of me and got comfortable.
The magazine was old; I just skimmed through it, put it back and started looking for another. The place was fairly busy, with five out of the seven chairs occupied.
"So what's brought you back to town, hun?" Anne asked as I rummaged through her magazine collection.
I looked up, "missed my mother is all. It's been too long,"
Anne smiled, "how sweet." I went back to looking for a magazine.
"What were you doing in the city?"
"After school, I started working in marketing for a company. Blue tile,"
"Still living with your father?"
I laughed, "No, I moved out a long time ago"
She laughed too. "Is this just a visit or it's a permanent stay?"
Anne is so nosy.
"Visit," I answered maybe a little too quickly.
Anne laughed again "alright".
The sound of an engine roaring right outside the window, captured my attention. I turned around and watched as a black 2005 Chrysler Crossfire parked right in front of the salon. I was a sucker for classic cars so I couldn't look away.
Out of the car, came a gorgeous man. He was very tall, fit, with slightly pale skin, large green eyes, dark brown hair, and full pink lips. He leaned on the side of the car, dressed head to toe in black; black loose t-shirt, black jeans and black shoes. His hair was combed to the back with a few disobedient strands covering his chilling yet handsome face. Between his soft looking lips was a lit cigarette. He was watching the door of the salon. He looked impatient. I watched him alternate between blowing clouds of smoke from his mouth and staring at the watch on his wrist. I was locked in a trance.
Then a girl appeared next to him and I was pulled out of the trance. I recognised her straight away. She was in the salon, getting her hair done. They exchanged a few words; she looked irritated, he looked angry. He then opened the passenger door of the car, she got in, and he slammed the door shut. He turned around and spotted me. For a split second, our eyes locked. He almost immediately looked away, walked to the other side of the car, stopped to look at me again, then got inside and drove off.
"Bill Eden," I heard my mother say. "That's his name in case you were curious,"
I turned around and saw that she was looking directly at me through the mirror.
"And the girl is his sister," Anne added. I blushed and shrank back in my seat.
"He's got all the ladies in this town swung," a lady getting her hair washed said erupting laughter from the rest of the women.
"Leaves them after he's done with them," one of the hairdressers chimed in.
"But they keep going back to him,"
I took my phone out of my pocket and pretended not to listen to the approaching gossip.
"Can you blame them? Have you seen him?"
"And he's rich. That hotel of his is making big money. Nothing better than a rich and handsome man,"
"What about a man that actually loves you?"
"Love isn't going to pay my bills or for my hair,"
More laughter.
"The sister was telling me him and his father don't get along,"
"I heard that too. Apparently him coming to open his hotel here was to get away from the father,"
"Why?"
"He must be abusive or something. Because the sister came here running from him too,"
