About two days later, Brandon was making his way to Tomas' house. He was hoping that somehow, Tomas' dad might be able to help. He had hoped he could just take care of things on his own, or maybe even with Tomas and Emma's help, but it wasn't panning out. Tomas' dad had skills. He knew about werewolves, and he made sure Crys was okay for all this time. Maybe he would be able to help. Maybe.
Arriving at Tomas' house, Tomas' dad opened the door and greeted him. "Hello, Brandon." He said kindly. "Tomas is at Emma's house, I don't know if he told you or not."
"Actually, I was hoping to talk to you." Brandon said.
"I believe I know where this is going. Please, come in."
Brandon entered the house and followed Tomas' dad over to the living room. They both took a seat.
"Crys?" Tomas' dad guessed.
"Yeah." Brandon replied.
Tomas' dad gave a little nod, indicating Brandon should keep going.
"I was hoping you could help me. I want to help Crys, but I can't get to her. She keeps running away and hiding. You helped with Seinhou, you work with werewolves, is there anything you can do to help?"
"Unfortunately, there isn't."
"What do you mean? You can't do anything?"
Tomas' dad shook his head slowly in disappointment. "I can't intervene unless there is something dangerous occuring. Unless Crys becomes a threat, I can't do anything."
"But you try to help her."
"I only helped keep her out of the media and clean up some of the bigger messes that had happened. I can't interfere with her life."
"But she needs help!"
"I understand, but unfortunately, this is something she needs to figure out for herself, and with help from her friends. I told her I didn't keep track of her. I never pried into her life. I won't start now. It isn't fair to her."
Brandon looked down with a slight frown in disappointment. "Is there anything you could do to help?" He asked sadly.
"Probably not." Tomas' dad replied with empathy. "I'm sorry, Brandon. I really am. If it means anything to you, I did try to talk to her the night she ran. I told her I took responsibility for what happened to Seinhou. I could have helped him, but I chose not to. Because of that, his fate was left to me, not her."
"Did she say anything?"
"No. I'm sorry."
"It's okay. Thank you anyway."
"Even if I could help, I wouldn't be able to do much. I doubt she wants to see me again after what happened the last time I had helped her. She may just believe anything I say is a ruse to take her in."
Brandon nodded a little.
"I'm sorry, Brandon. I know it's tough to go through something like this. I hope you, Tomas, and Emma can help her. Don't give up."
"Thank you."
"Of course. Did you need me for anything else?"
"No."
Brandon got up, and so did Tomas' dad. Tomas' dad saw Brandon out, bidding him goodbye and good luck on the way out. Brandon walked home feeling rather defeated. There went his only good idea at helping Crys. At this point, he really didn't know what to do. He just spent the rest of the day trying to figure out what to do next.
