Jim and Annie continued to run through the island's jungle until they were sure they were far enough away. Annie tried to call Jim's name numerous times, but he looked ahead, doing his best to ignore her.

"Jim. Jim, please. Jim, will you just listen!" Annie finally cried out, making Jim stop and face her.

"Why did you do it? Why did you join a pirate crew?" Annie tried to answer, but she didn't know where to start. "Did you even like me, or were you just trying to stop me from finding out your plans? Just a funny trick to play on the stupid cabin boy!"

"No!" Annie managed to yell, stopping the boy from saying anymore bad things about himself. Jim faltered at her tone, allowing her to compose herself. "I didn't have a choice."

"There's always a choice."

"Not always." Annie snapped, before letting out a sigh. "My father was on Flint's crew. He was a pirate."

Jim's eyes widened at this.

"A couple of years ago, my father passed away. He left me and my mother to support ourselves with nothing left. My mother and I had to do any kind of work we could get; maids, cooks. Obviously there is not a lot for a woman to do in this world, let alone a girl. Long John found me trying to steal some food from the market. He bought us enough food for a meal that night and told me about his plan to get the treasure. He said that as the child of a former crew member, I could be entitled to some of the treasure as long as I went to along with the plan."

Jim closed his eyes, not knowing how to feel about the girl after hearing her story.

"Jim, I swear, I never wanted to hurt you. I just wanted to get the treasure, go home and be with my mother and not worry about where our next meal is going to come from. I didn't think I'd end up falling for someone along the way."

Jim opened his eyes, looking at the girl curiously. Seeing his inquisitive gaze, she rolled her eyes. "You, Jim. I like you. I... I love you."

Jim allowed himself to smile at Annie, who smiled back. "I love you, too."

She reached out her hand, brushing her pinkie along his, before he reached out and grabbed her hand. Annie took a step closer as Jim did the same until their noses were touching. They smiled at each other and shared a small, sweet kiss that symbolised both forgiveness and love. They pulled back and smiled once again, before they carried on hiking through the jungle, searching for Jim's friends.
