Jim Hawkins and his best friends Gonzo and Rizzo made their way below deck of the Hispaniola in search of food. They heard someone singing when they got to the bottom.
"Heigh ho and up she rises. Heigh ho and up she rises. Heigh and up she rises. Early in the morning."
"Hey, something smells good." Rizzo commented.
"Put him in the longboat 'till he's sober. Put him in the longboat 'till he's sober. Put him in the longboat 'till he's sober. Early in the morning."
Jim cleared his throat to gain the sailor's, who was singing, attention. The sailor turned to them with a deadly look.
"What have we here? Stowaways."
The three friends jumped back at the sailior's tone.
"I'm afraid we shish kebab and barbecue stowaways." he threatened, as held an knife.
The sailor growled at them, before he rolled his eyes and laughed. They realized the sailor was only joking and laughed along as well.
"Wait, I know. You must be the cabin boys."
"Yeah."
"Hungry, lads? Well in my gallery, you're always welcome to help yourselves."
"Yes. Thank you. Oh yes!" Rizzo said before he scarfed down the chicken.
"Well, he's got a healthy appetite. What about you funny face?" the sailor tossed an apple to Gonzo.
"Hey thanks. My name is Gonzo and the guy in your chicken is Rizzo."
"Yo!" Rizzo greeted as he continued to eat the chicken.
"And you must be Master Hawkins."
"Yes sir."
"Oh you needn't be calling' a lowly ship's cook 'sir'. Long John Silver at your humble service."
"But we're just cabin boys, Mr Silver." Jim tried to protest.
"Long John to his friends. And believe me lad... A friend you can trust is worth his weight in gold."
"Silver, you haven't been teasing the new cabin boys, have you?" an angelic voice called out.
At the bottom of the stairs stood a girl the same age as Jim, with brown eyes and long brown hair that went past her shoulder. She had tan skin and wore a female sailor's clothes which accentuated her figure. She was, by far, the most beautiful girl Jim had ever seen. He felt himself blushing from staring at her with his mouth a gape. Rizzo and Gonzo were also impressed with the beauty of the girl.
"Wow." Jim sighed quietly, in wonder.
"Who is she?" Rizzo asked out loud.
"Ah Annie. You know I'm just messing around." Long John defended himself.
The girl rolled her eyes, but smiled. She turned to Jim, Gonzo and Rizzo. Jim tried to collect himself in order to not embarrass himself in front of her.
"Nice to meet you mates. Name's Annabella Gracelynn. Everyone calls me Annie though."
"My name is Gonzo and that's Rizzo."
Annie smiled and looked at Jim who hadn't said anything. "And you are?"
"Oh, um m-my name is um Jim... Hawkins. Jim Hawkins." he stuttered.
Annie smirked at him which made him go red.
"You know you should be careful on this journey." Annie warned the three.
"How come?" Rizzo asked nervously.
"There's many a dark-hearted scoundrel in these ports." Long John answered for her.
"What do you mean? Pirates?" Jim asked.
Long John and Annie attempted to shush him but he had already asked.
"Pirates! Ha, that's rich!" A lobster, sat on a perch behind Long John, exclaimed. "Pirates? What an imagination! Give me a cracker!"
"Allow me to introduce my pet lobster Polly." Long John explained.
"Pieces of eight! Pieces of eight!" Polly whistled.
"Raised him from a fingerling I did. As fine a crustacean a man could ask for.
"B-but I thought sailors had talking parrots for pets." Gonzo pointed out.
"Talking parrots?" Annie asked incredulously.
"What an imagination. First pirates, now talking parrots? What's next? A singing, dancing mouse with his own amusement park?"
"That's enough now Polly. Go on! Shoo!" Long John looked at the cabin boys. "Right, me hearties. I'm gonna give you the cook's tour of this place."
Rizzo groaned, his stomach full up with chicken. "If you're gonna be the cook on this ship Mr Silver, I am definitely gonna need bigger pants."
Annie giggled, while Long John chuckled and stood in front of the boys. He revealed his missing leg which made Jim, Gonzo and Rizzo go silent. They had been warned about a ruthless pirate with one leg by Billy Bones.
Long John and Annie realized something was wrong with them. "What's the matter lads?" he followed their gaze to his missing limb. "Oh that. Lost that timber-fighting brigands off Madagascar under Admiral Hawke. There's many a man who's lost a leg and worse in the service of the king. Why, look what a cannibal took off me...in exchange for me own life."
He held up his hands which had two fingers missing from it. Jim and Gonzo look at him wide eyed. Long John revealed his finger still intact with his hands as he and Annie started to laugh at the cabin boys' faces.
"Oh you're a fine pair, lads. That you are. Bright as buttons the lot of ye."
"All hands on deck!" Mr Arrow shouted from above.
"C'mon then lads." Long John called to them as he headed up the stairs, followed by Gonzo and then Rizzo.
Both Jim and Annie went to go up the stairs which caused them to bump in to each other.
"Sorry. After you." Jim politely said.
Annie raised an eyebrow. "Well it's nice to know there's going to be at least one gentleman on this voyage." she replied as she winked at him before she headed to the deck. Jim was frozen on the spot for a moment, blushing like mad, before he snapped out of it and followed her up the stairs.
