"One bunny ear, two bunny ears..." Sticking my tongue out of the corner of my mouth, I finished off the fifth knot around Nathaniel's door handle while humming Ring-around-the-roses, which I quickly realised was incredibly disturbing. Standing up, I admired my work before sliding my index finger across the taut rope now connecting our two doors.Retrieving my vibrating phone from my back pocket, I bit back a cheeky laugh. "Hey Daniel. Yes I already let him know and he said he'd be ten minutes. I'll be down right away." Hanging up, I tucked my phone away before knocking on Nate's door. "Nate, hurry up!"
"Stop fucking calling me that." He growled from within his dungeon of solitude. Smirking, I knocked again in a more annoying manner. Repeatedly. "Christ?! What?!" He barked, manhandling the door handle. I bit down on my bottom lip as I watched the door peel open about an inch before jerking to a stiff halt. "What the fuck did you do?" He demanded. I shrugged, eyeing the rope attached to our doors. I'm not going to lie, it was creepy seeing him glare at me with only one eye; but his distress was absolutely worth the future nightmares. "Open the fucking door Nancy!"
"That didn't sound like a request...I don't take kindly to orders from misogynists." Rattling the metal handle again, he tugged the door violently. I heard the contraption groan and winced; my mind flashing to an image of him morphing into the Hulk and tearing the damn frame off its hinges. Quickly taking out my phone, I documented my achievement. "You're almost making it too easy now, Nate." Slamming the door shut he shook the handle mercilessly before pulling it open abruptly, unfortunately for him the rope was damn strong.
"You don't want to know what I'll do if this door doesn't open in the next ten seconds. I'm fucking warning you Nancy!" I narrowed my eyes before mock laughing.
"Oo...I'm so scared."
"Nancy-"
"Oh and before I forget, Daniel needs us downstairs ASAP. Conference call with Mr. Quinn in five, also he said to hurry because Aaron's in a mood." Sighing I waved at him. "Okay, so see you there." My voice was melodic with glee.
"Don't you dare leave me here like this Nancy! I swear to god you'll pay!" He shook the door with a passion I'd never seen before; all the while growling and cursing bodily harm. It damn near sounded like a horror film was being shot within this hall. "I'll fucking end you, you hear me?!"
"You may try that, if and when you manage to get out of there." I scoffed ducking under the rope, I readjusted the piece of paper I'd stuck to the middle. The prominent warning was penned in thick, black texta, warning other patrons to beware of the wild animal trapped inside 602. I heard the elevator beep and turned to find a sweet couple exit. They were too enthralled with one another to notice me at first. Holding my arm out, I forced them to an abrupt halt. Pointing to the sign, I then signalled to the door.
"Ah!" The woman squealed before throwing herself into her partner's arms. Tucking her into his side, the man went ramrod stiff. The door frame quivered more violently; Nate's rage filled sounds echoed out sounding increasingly ferrel. The woman shakily pointed to the door. "Wha...what's inside?" She stammered, appearing deathly pale.
I shrugged. "Some sort of wild animal. I haven't the faintest idea what it is but I'd imagine it's some hideous beast." Nathaniel began to kick at the solid portal. With each thud the woman gasped and the man cringed. "You should really get to your room, it'll be safe there until animal control gets here." I spoke gently, rubbing her arm reassuringly. They cautiously ducked under the line before bolting to their room.
