Looking from an overall perspective, the percentage of city living raised in every country. But by 2040, Malaysia will have the highest urban population.

Regarding the figures for Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia, it is readily apparent that all of them showed a similar upward trend, especially the figure for Malaysia with a remarkable rise from 30% in the beginning to approximately 84% at the end of the course. On the other hand, Thailand and Indonesia had lower rates of urban residency, which started at 19% and 14% respectively, but Indonesia surpassed Thailand in 2000 (28%) and increased rapidly. At the end of the course, it is projected that the urban residency rates of Indonesia will reach over 60% in 2040, while for Thailand will be lower by 10%

In contrast, the figure for Philippine witnessed a moderate decline lasting 20 years from 1990 to 2010, which made the rate fall from 50% to 43%. Throughout the remaining process, the figure showed significant growth and is projected to reached 55%, the third-highest among all the countries.
