The first period of the day began, and Engrossed in his mobile games, his attention drifting further away from the mundane world of the classroom. The teacher's voice washed over him like a distant murmur, the words barely registering until a familiar name broke through the fog of his indifference."This is Y/N," the teacher announced, and Nagi's ears perked up, his gaze snapping to the front of the classroom. His heart skipped a beat as he locked eyes with the girl he had encountered earlier, his expression hardening into a scowl. He couldn't understand why she was approaching him, of all people, and he braced himself for the inevitable awkwardness that would surely follow. But to his surprise, she merely took her seat behind him, her nervous energy palpable even from where he sat.Nagi felt a strange pang of disappointment as he watched her, the urge to reach out and break the silence tugging at the edges of his consciousness. But just as he was about to turn around and say something, doubt crept in, and he hesitated, his gaze returning to the comforting glow of his phone screen. The bell rang, signaling the end of the period, and Nagi rose from his seat with a lazy stretch. He made his way to the door, his mind elsewhere, until he felt a familiar presence beside him. It was Reo, his ever-grinning best friend, waiting for him with his usual enthusiasm.
"How was class?" Reo asked, his grin widening as he fell into step beside Nagi.
Nagi merely hummed in response, his thoughts still lingering on the encounter with Y/N. They continued their one-sided small talk as they made their way to their next lesson, the chatter of the other students fading into the background as Nagi's mind wandered back to the girl who had managed to capture his attention in ways he couldn't quite understand.
As Y/N entered her next class, her mind was consumed with thoughts of Nagi. She couldn't shake the hope that he would be in the same lesson as her, but her shyness held her back from seeking him out. Lost in her overthinking, she barely noticed when she arrived at her destination, bidding her newfound friends goodbye before slipping into the classroom and taking a seat at the back.
Her thoughts drifted back to Nagi, and just as she was beginning to resign herself to another day of silent longing, he walked in and approached her, taking a seat in front of her. Unaware of her presence, he remained engrossed in his mobile game, oblivious to the world around him.
Summoning all her courage, Y/N tapped his shoulder, her heart pounding in her chest as she greeted him awkwardly. Nagi raised his head, his gaze meeting hers with a tension that hung heavy in the air. The silence stretched between them, each moment feeling like an eternity until Nagi finally responded with a simple "oh hi."
The awkwardness of the moment was palpable, both of them unsure of how to proceed. Y/N's eyes drifted to Nagi's phone, noticing the game he was playing, her favorite mobile game no less. A spark of excitement flickered within her as she asked about his progress, only to be met with a response that left her dumbfounded.
"Level 1900," Nagi replied casually, unaware of the shock that registered on Y/N's face. She had been playing the game for years and hadn't even reached level 500. Before she could respond, the bell rang, signaling the start of the lesson and cutting their conversation short.
As the teacher launched into the math lesson, Y/N couldn't help but steal glances at Nagi, her mind still reeling from their brief interaction. Little did she know, this unexpected encounter was just the beginning of a journey that would bring them closer together in ways they never could have imagined.
