- Officer L/N! - shouted one of the crewman - You are needed in the Academy!
Y/N hid her face in her hands. She was busy literally all day. She didn't have a single free minute. Nyota woke her up in like 6 in the morning saying that she really needs her help in her brand new translation. Later Kirk called her to accompany him in monthly ship check up, since she was "the most suitable pearson for it". Then Doctor McCoy insisted that she really need to update her medical card, even though she had medical check up done last month. Then she wanted to go and see how is Spock doing but she was stopped by Chekov.
- You can't! - Chekov shouted - I need your advice! A love advice!
- A love advice? From me? - Y/N looked at him, annoyed - Why?
- The girl I want to ask out is Vulcan - he answered - No Vulcan will give me a love advice. But you are not a Vulcan. Since you know them so well, I thought you might help me?
- Can't it wait? - Y/N asked
- No! - Pavel shouted again - She leaves Earth tommorow and she might never come back. So it is today or never!
So she spend next, whole hour talking about Vulcan food preferences, their culture and history.
- Thank you so much, Miss L/N! - said Chekov, walking her back to her office, even though she insisted he don't need to do it - You are a life saver!
And now that she hoped she would finally Spock somebody called for her again. While walking to Academy she realized it was already getting dark. She yawned, being tired because of all activites she has to do.
-Y/N L/N. I was called - she said as she stepped inside the building
- Yes - answered Cadet, that was sitting behind the desk - Officer Spock is waiting for you in the room 246
Y/N nod and walked to the lift. Spock called for her? In the Academy? Why? Did something happen? Something bad? She got lost on her thoughts she almost didn't realize she was already on the right floor. She looked around the corridor. It was more than familiar to her. She spend four years mostly on this floor, training to become a part of Starfleet. It was a wonderful time, when her and Spock had nothing go worry about exept grades. Sometimes she missed those times. Life back then just seemed so simple.
She knocked on the room 246 door, still wondering what Spock needed here, in the Academy. She heard him saying to come in. She opened the door and saw Spock in his uniform, standing behind the window.
- Hi - she said, smiling - What's going on?
- How was your day? - asked Spock
- Good? - Y/N answered, looking at him suprised - I mean pretty busy. Everybody wanted something from me today
- I might - started Spock - Kind of asked them for it
Y/N gave him a puzzled look.
- They probably thought I'm preparing a big thing - he continued - I thought of it at first, but then I realized that it's not a thing of yours. Fancy dinners, parties
- You good? - Y/N asked, looking at Spock like he was mental
- This room has a special meaning to me - Spock didn't seem to bother about Y/Ns comment - Remember when we had a class here one day? The one when you fainted?
Y/N remembered that day pretty well.
It was a cold day, in the middle of the winter. It was an unusual strong winter. Y/N really hated cold. Growing up on Vuclan, she wasn't really used to cold weather. She was waking to the Academy with Spock, wearing all her warmest clothes. Her face was hidden in wool scarf, Spock gave her years ago. She started couching.
- You alright? - asked Spock, looking at her
- Yes - she answered, with weak voice - Just a flu. Don't worry
Spock wasn't so sure she was fine, but he decided not to argue. But it made him worried. She was sick for a whole week and it didn't got any better. Actually Spock caught himself worring about her more that he ever worried about anyone else. It was a suprise for him. He didn't really knew why he cared about her well being so much. Of course she was his friend for many years but that didn't really answered his question. What was so special about her?
When they finally joined the class Y/N didn't look any better. She was pale on the face, her eyes darting and her breathing heavy. Spock was glancing at her very often, clearly seeing she was very sick. Suddenly the professor asked Y/N to come to the front of the class and make some calculations. Spock wanted to protest but she was already up, walking and shivering. She grabbed the marker and started writing on the whiteboard. She could write few numbers before she fainted. She fell down on the floor, making Spock stand up immediatly. He run up to her, shaking her, trying to wake her up. He ignored the professor and everyone else.
- I realized something really important that day - Spock continued - When I saw you there lying unconsious, I realized that I don't know what would I do if you won't wake up. I realized that I can't imagine my life without you in it
Then Spock get down on one knee, as Y/N covered her mouth with her hand, small tears forming in her eyes.
-I would like to make you a promise that I will stay with you forever - Spock said - Will you marry me?
He looked at her with his typical stoic expression, but Y/N could tell that he was stressed at the moment, even if he tried to hide it.
- I will - she answered
