~Cigarettes and Feelings~

It hadn't even been a day since she told Light he was allowed to visit her when he wanted. The ex-shinigami really made her want to strangle her empathic past self. It was her break, and she was having a cheeky smoke in the small alley near the bar.

Fin knew if her boss or rather any other Japanese person, caught her smoking outside of a public designated area, she would probably be burned at the stake. Heck, if any of the local patrons found out, she'd probably lose her job.

But she didn't care, she needed this moment of freedom, of solitude. The cigarette in her hand, the smoke curling around her face, it was all so deliciously sinful. She was lost in her thoughts, daydreaming about the time she and Light had spent together, when she heard footsteps approaching. She didn't bother looking up, figuring it was just another patron from the bar on their way home.

Boy, was she wrong.

As the footsteps grew closer, she finally tore her gaze away from the cigarette and looked up, expecting to see the familiar face of one of her regulars. But it wasn't. It was him. Yagami.

Light's features were pale, almost ghostly in the dim light of the alley. His eyes were hollow, his expression distant.

"They're dead." He said with no emotion as Fin sighed, putting her cigarette out.

"What do you mean 'they're dead'?" Fin asked, trying to keep the irritation out of her voice as she leaned against the brick wall of the bar.

"Kurou Otoharada and Takuo Shibuimaru."

Fin frowned, trying to place the names. "They were...?"

"They were my first victims when I was Kira." Light said, his tone flat.

"They're following your actions from the other timeline."

Fin couldn't believe what she was hearing. This was some sort of twisted, messed up version of the butterfly effect. "So, what do you want me to do?"

Light shrugged, seemingly unbothered. "I don't know. I just thought you should know. I guess you can decide what to do with the information." With that, he turned on his heel and walked away, disappearing away from the bar.

Fin stood there for a moment, taking in the weight of his words. She was in shock. This revelation was huge, not just for her but for the entire world. They had to find out who Kira was. Once Yagami thought he would get his hands on the death note, Fin would give it to Ryuk to take it back to the Shinigami world.

She was not about to watch that fucking douche mess up his life for a second time. He was going to be a good son and an even better brother if she had anything to do with it.

With renewed determination, Fin headed back into the bar, ignoring the disapproving glares from the patrons. She had a plan. She would use the knowledge Light had unwittingly given her to stop him from going down the wrong path again.

Yagami wasn't ready when she inserted herself into his family life. It was the only way she could think of to get him to slow down, and see the damage he had done in the past timeline. She couldn't just sit back and watch him make the same mistakes all over again.
