Ch. 12

She kisses him as she traces her fingers along his chest, feeling his heartbeat quicken beneath her touch. Mina then slowly unbuttons his shirts one by one. Haru takes his shirt off, showing his toned physique; his chiseled abs were rock hard and soft skin. That's when their heated moment comes to a pause, as Mina's attention is now on Haru's lower waist. She touched and asked, "What happened here?"

Haru, knowing that their heated moment is now paused, then grabs the blanket and covers Mina's body, as she's naked. He then tells her that it was a scar he got in high school: "I was stabbed in high school... by my father. He got drunk as usual but that day he was more angry because mom couldn't give him more money. He was about to go and stab my mom, but I put myself between them and got stabbed instead. Still, I'm happy that I got hurt instead of my mom. My sister called the police, and he was thrown into jail. He was investigated, and I came forward with all the abuse he had inflicted upon our family. We were free from his torment and could focus on healing and moving forward with our lives. But I just wish I could have stopped him sooner," Haru's voice trembled as he shared his painful past with Mina, he felt safe with her. Mina couldn't help but feel sorry and held Haru and dragged him down to cuddle. As they embraced, Mina whispered, "I'm grateful that you trust me enough to share this with me, Haru. You did your best to survive and that's enough." Haru couldn't help but cry at that statement, he's always put himself down for not being able to protect his loved ones back then.

"Haru?" Mina called out.

"Yes Love?" Haru responded, looking into Mina's eyes.

"I don't know why, at this moment, I can't help but want to say I love you." Haru's heart skipped a beat at Mina's confession. Hearing those three words filled him with overwhelming joy. "I love you too, Mina, I've loved you for a long time" he whispered back, his voice filled with sincerity. Mina smiled, wiping his tears. She leaned in and kissed Haru, sealing their love for each other at that moment.

All caught up in the moment, Haru starts laughing because he finds it funny how they went from a passionate moment to talk about his trauma. "Why are you laughing?

"It's just funny how we were talking about this when we are partially naked."

"Oh... Hehe," Mina giggled, blushing at the realization. Haru couldn't help but find her reaction adorable, which only made him laugh even more. They both ended up laughing together, their shared laughter easing any tension that may have lingered in the air.

"Ima, go take a quick shower, okay?" Haru said, still chuckling. Mina nodded, her cheeks still flushed from their laughter. "Yeah, go ahead; you should have towels in the cabinet."

Mina stares as Haru walks out of the room. She glances at his broad shoulders and can't help but feel butterflies in her stomach. The image of Haru's physique lingers in her mind, making her cheeks flush even more as she waits for him to finish. She went to her closet and put on some comfy clothes. Minutes had passed, and Haru was taking a while. "What could he be doing in there for so long?" Mina asked as she was about to go and knock on the door. Right at that time, Haru walks out with a towel around his waist, and Mina's eyes widen at the sight in front of her. Harus had wet hair and water dripping all over his body. Mina's heart skipped a beat as she tried to avert her gaze, feeling her cheeks burn even hotter. She quickly turned away, hoping Haru hadn't noticed her reaction. Trying to regain her composure, she cleared her throat and asked, "What took you so long?"

All Haru did was laugh the question off and go to bed. He picks up his shirt, puts it back on, and puts his pants back on. Mina, seeing all this, is confused, as it seems as if he's getting ready to leave. "What are you doing?" Mina asked, her confusion evident in her voice. Haru turned to face her, a mischievous smile playing on his lips. "What else? I'm heading home," he replied.
