" What's going on?" I ask as I notice Omar and Zoya talking with the eyes.
" Going on , what's going on ? nothing…" Zoya blabber nervously , zeroing her eyes on Omar . Who gave me a tight smile nervously .
What kind of a dish do they make with each other?
I squinted my eyes " don't lie I know you both … you guys are hiding something better tell me " I warned them .
Both of them glanced at each other rather than gulp visibly and my doubt went deeper.
Before I could ask them more, Zoya shouted " uncle and you both came " . Turning around I saw my in-laws coming with Zubi .
" Mama" Ruby tried to reach out and I ran toward her picking up my mother in law's arms. I hugged her tightly " I miss you so much my princess " I kissed her cheek.
" How about we go to the picnic ?" Zoya announcing in front of the whole family
my dad rub his chin " not a bad idea actually"
'' Goodness someone finally spoke, " my mother in law let out a sigh dramatically .
I shake my head. I used to hear stories of my mother in law being so innocent, simple and quiet but my own mother changed her whole personality.
" Yes it's going to be so exciting after so long " my mother claps her both hands like a child.
" Picnic then " I smile but deep down I feel like I'm missing some piece.
As I stood near the cliff, the sun began its descent, casting a warm, golden glow over the tranquil lake below. The air was filled with the laughter and joyous chatter of my family, who were gathered behind me, enjoying each other's company. I couldn't help but feel a pang of longing, a sense of something missing amidst the merriment.
My thoughts drifted to my husband, who could not join us for the picnic. A question that has lingered in my mind resurfaced, tormenting me with its persistence: does he miss me? Does he care for me as I do for him
But then again why do I care? It's not like we are like a normal couple .
I closed my eyes, trying to suppress the doubts and insecurities that threatened to mar this beautiful moment. I took a deep breath, inhaling the fresh, crisp air, hoping to find a moment of solace and clarity.
As I opened my eyes, I glanced back at my family, their faces radiant with joy and contentment. They were oblivious to my inner turmoil, their love for each other overshadowing any hint of sadness or longing.
I knew that I should be grateful for the family that I have, for the love and support that they provide me. But the emptiness within persisted, a reminder of the gap that my husband's absence had created in my life.
Would he ever miss me as I missed him? Would he ever understand the depths of my love and longing for him? Or was I destined to remain forever unfulfilled, forever yearning for a love that seemed to elude me?
I turned away from the cliff, unable to bear the weight of my emotions any longer.
Third person p.o.v
Mannat's heart stopped as she saw Zubi standing dangerously close to the edge of the cliff. Without a second thought, she sprinted towards her, the panic evident in her eyes.
“Zubi, no!” Mannat cried out as she reached out to grab her daughter. But before she could reach her, Omar appeared out of nowhere and pulled Zubi back, saving her from falling over the edge.
Relief flooded through Mannat but her leg slipped on the damp grass and she felt herself teetering on the edge of the cliff. Fear gripped her as she struggled to regain her balance.
Everything happens so slowly , her body almost leaned out of the edge ready to fall down but suddenly out of nowhere a hand tightly clasps hers.
She screamed in fear and watched as the man who came to her rescue was none other than her husband Zunaid .
With the agility of a knight in shining armour, Zunaid grabbed Mannat's hand and pulled her towards him, saving her from a deadly fall. As she looked up at him in surprise, she saw a glint of something unspoken in his eyes.
The tension between them was palpable as they stood there, locked in a silent exchange. Mannat's heart raced as she felt the heat of Zunaid's hand against hers, their proximity sending a jolt of electricity through her.
In that moment, she realised there was something more between them than just duty and obligation. And as Zunaid helped her to safety " you okay ?" Zunaid asks in his most gentle voice , he ever uses it on her .
look back and couldn't help but wonder what could have been if they had just a little more time alone.
" Yeah…" She breathed out , her chest heave up and down heavily as her whole shiver in fear .
" Mannat …" Noor screamed and ran toward her .
" Are you okay , my daughter? " Everyone came by now making sure that Mannat was okay but her eyes were locked with her husband who stared at her with the same intensity .
While Zoya and Omar smirk watching the two lovebirds get lost in each other's eyes .
" What's the next plan? " Zoya asks Omar .
" Jealousy " His lips curl upward and Zoya couldn't help but chuckle at their evil plan .
