Five folded the tissue with the address he'd just gotten from the old truck driver and placed it in a pocket inside his blazer.

Alex felt them before he saw them.

It made him set his can of redbull down.

Five heart beats right outside the shop and they were getting closer. Sure it could be a million different things, a million different people, but Alex doubted it. He had been stalling, partially, waiting for the Commission's men to find them so they could take down Five without Alex needing to decide. That way his options would be narrowed and he wouldn't have to overthink everything. He wasn't going to save the world, okay? He was no hero.

He was just a lab experiment, an animal gone feral.

He wasn't meant for good. He was meant for a blood bath.

Whatever made Five ask him to help him was something Alex didn't have. He didn't have that innate sense of good and bad. He never had the inner voice telling him to be good. He didn't know how to be good other than following orders.

So by all means, when the bell above the door rung as it opened, letting five men in heavy armor inside, Alex should have been relieved. He should have turned to their side with a small sarcastic quip and flipped Five off as all six of them took him out.

Instead, all he felt was dread.

Five looked in the bell in front of him, at the reflection of the five people. Then he turned to Alex, holding his gaze the way no one had before.

"Well that was fast, wasn't it, Alex?"

Five had a way of making anyone feel small, even though he was tiny. He had a way of belittling, being condescending, and downright infuriating. But he held Alex's gaze, almost as if he was trying to have an unspoken conversation.

"I thought I'd have more time before they found me" Five shrugged, setting his coffee cup down and looked at Alex again. "Suppose you'll want to join your friends"

Alex couldn't help the way his eyes flicked from the five men to Five. He'd been in this job so long he'd started to make mental calculations. When he sat down he'd noticed a room Agnes disappeared into and he really hoped she didn't come back out. Then there were the five men, decked in tactical gear with various degrees of weapons. One of them had his gun trained on Five.

It was almost comical, the nonchalance with which Five approached the situation. He had a gun on him, four other people ready to shoot at any second and yet his focus was on Alex and he had that stupid furrowed brow expression he always did.

Alex didn't know what it meant.

"Mars?" One of the guys blurted out in disbelief, "Holy shit, it is you. What are you doing with him?"

Alex wished he could have come up with a good explanation, told them he was on their side and just had been stalling so they could come to help him take out Five.

But words failed him and Five seemed to take that as an answer.

"Let's all be professional about this, yeah?" The one with his gun on Five said. "On your feet and come with us. She wants to talk. With both of you"

"I've got nothing to say" Five shrugged.

"And you?" The bald one with the gun grunted at Alex.

"Yeah, Mars, I guess you'll get a new body" the other one said, but the bald one didn't seem to know what he was talking about, "You don't know who that is? Dude, most kills in Commission history! That guy's got his photo on the employee of the month a billion times, come on!"
