You peer up into the sun and wipe some sweat from your forehead. With the sun boiling in the sky, you couldn't help it. It's so aggravating that you have to be working on a day like this. At least there was something you would be looking forward to after work, which was hanging out with your little sister. Your sister's name is Annabelle, and she is the most important star in your life. You grin as you think about her bright smile and energetic mood. Both your mother and your father had died a few years ago, killed by pirates, so you had to raise Annabelle alone. Annabelle was really lonely as well, you were pretty much never home for her, except probably an hour or so every Friday. Working 4 jobs all at once was very difficult, but it managed to provide for you and Annabelle for this long.
"Hi Y/N!"
You spin around and see Annabelle standing there with a huge smile on her face.
"Annabelle?" You can't help the surprise in your voice. "What are you doing here? You should be at home!"
Annabelle shrugged.
"I was bored, and I know where you work, so BAM," she makes an exploding gesture with her hands. "Here I am!"
You shake your head and laugh softly.
"Oh Annabelle." You glance at your watch. Your shift ended 10 minutes ago, so you were free to go.
You take Annabelle's hand.
"Let's go Annabelle. My work shift is done and I have the rest of the day with you.. Well at least until I have to go work my night shift at the museum as a security guard."
Annabelle looks up at you with a pessimistic look in her eyes.
"Y/N, you always spend so much time on work! Why can't you spend more time with me? I barely see you all week!"
You sigh, knowing that Annabelle wouldn't understand.
"I'm just working hard to provide a nice life and house for you honey," you say as you decide to stick with the facts.
Annabelle pouts.
"That's still unfair."
I giggle, looking at her moody expression.
"Forget about that for now, and let's go back and spend some time together being happy, not groaning over the unfairness of life."
Annabelle eventually agrees to come home with me and we get home.. Only to hear a loud BANG come from the living room.
