That poor yellow steve.

Assistant nightmare steve calls out, get this mess cleaned up then your free to go he says gesturing to the corpse of a yellow steve who dared defy him.

Y-yes s-sir i stutter face paleing at the sight.

But Nightmare doesn't wait for him to answer and just walks off.

He wasn't always like this, he used to be kind and loving.

He used to love me.

I don't know how this happened.

When he came to tell me that the darkness could help. That it could save us all. That the king was weak.

I believed him.

Because i loved him, And he loved me.

H-

"OH MY GOD IM SO SORRY" a voice yells out.

And i look down only to realize that all the papers i was holding were on the floor. Its fine, probably my fault i wasn't watching where i was going i stutter reaching down to pick them up. Here let me help the mystery guy says also reaching down, he's probably a guard since he has armor and a sword straped to his waist.

"Here you go" he says handing me a small stack of papers and sorry about that.

Its fine, but i should probably watch where i was going i say smiling apologetically and turn to leave.

WAIT he calls out are you the kings assistant. Uh-yea i am i say stoping. Oh cool he says im a guard. Yea i could tell i sleepishly say gesturing to his armor. He smiles and introduces himself " im hunter". "Hunter" i say thats a nice name im karim(pronounced Karen). "Karim" that is such a cute name hunter gushes. Uh Thank you i say a little red.

Well i got to go i have the night shift, see you around hunter says and walks off.

See ya i say waving at him.

Only when he's out of sight do i take in my surroundings and realize that im nowhere near the throne room. I sigh realizing that i probably walked off. Whatever some has probably taken care of the....mess by now. And i need to get these papers sorted i think looking down at the small stack of papers in my hands. I sigh realizing its going to be a long night.

The Next Day

ASSISTANT Nightmare screams ARE YOU EVAN PAYING ATTENTION.

y-yes sir i am i stutter looking down at my feet trying to not make eye contact with him.

Good he says eyeing me suspiciously and hands me a rather big stack of papers. Get these done by tomorrow i have to tend to the darkness he says then walks off leaving me alone in his study.

I sigh realizing this task will probably take me all day and decide that since Nightmare will probably be out all day and probably most of the night i can just go do this in my room and start the long walk there. Whos idea was it to put the kings assistants room on the other side of the castle?

Im broken out of my thoughts when a familiar voice from behind me calls out.

"HEY KARIM"

I turn around only to see Hunter walking towards me.

Hey Hunter i say smiling as he approaches.

Going somewhere? He asks smiling back at me.

"Yea, i gotta finish this stack of paper work for tomorrow and thought that i could just do it in my room. Where are you going?"

"I just finished my shift and was going to go take a nap."

"Oh, cool do you live in the castle."

"Yea all guards do its a requirement or something stupid like that. Where is your room?"

"Its in the east wing."

"Thats like right next to the guard quarters he says smiling, i'll walk you there."

I sigh realizing that there is no way out of that and reluctantly agree. Sure, that sounds great.

Great he says and starts walking next to me. You're lucky you can do your work in your room he says sighing.

You're a castle guard how much work do you even do i tease

HEY i do work he says making dramatic hand jesters. I stand guard outside of the libary doors all day.

Ofcourse you do i say smiling back at him. Ofcourse you do.

The rest of the walk we joke around until i stop infront of my room and say, "here we are".

Already, man time sure does fly says hunter smiling well guess I'll see you later.

Yea see you i say also smiling and entering my room closing the door behind me.

I like hunter hes a nice guy a lot like.... he used to be. But i cant think about that now, not while i still have work to do and if i dont finish Nightmare might throw a fit, well i dont know for sure but his mood swings are getting worse, im lucky he didn't lash out this morning when he thought i wasn't paying attention to him.

I sigh as i realize that i dont have the time for these useless thoughts and that i already have my hands full with all this paper work.

Oh well it is what it is.

Time Skip

FINALLY i practically scream with joy.

THAT TOOK FOREVER. I say as i do a little victory dance in my chair ans since its not too late out so i have the rest of the day to my self.

My happiness is interrupted by a rather annoying knock on my door.

Ugh what now i think as get up to check who was at the door.

Annoyed i open the door to see Hunter standing there in casual clothes and his usual smile.

Hey hunter i say kind of surprised to see him here at this time. Whats up?

Me and some of my friends were going to go hang out in the kingdom and i was wondering if you wanted to come as well he says a little red in the face.

Uh i dont know i say a little unsure how to respond, i haven't left the castle in a while.

Pleaseeee it will be fun, i promise he begged, im sure you could use a break.

You know what sure, I'll go with you guys, but only of a bit i quickly added, i dont want to be late for work tomorrow.

YAYYY WE'RE GOING TO HAVE SO MUCH FUN Hunter practically screams with joy throwing his arms up like a child.

Quiet down you'll wake the neighbors i hurriedly wispered trying to get him to quiet down.

Sorry he wispers back covering his mouth with his hands.

Its fine, pretty sure my neighbors are deaf or something i say nonchalantly.

He laughs, puts his arm around my shoulders and starts to lead me down the hall.

Wait, where are we going? He hives me a sinister grin and without stoping or slowing down he says "the bar".
