When we descended from the staircase, our fathers were waiting for us with wine. "Were you all in on this?" Joanna laughed, "Yes, I didn't know what I was doing, so I asked people who'd already experienced in that field." I smiled.
We talked for months before deciding on how our wedding would go, eventually choosing a simple and small wedding. The colors were blue and yellow with a small amount of white. I wore a light blue suit with a small yellow flower on my Lapel, in turn her bouquet was a light blue. Though I imagined it, I never thought she would be so beautiful and as she and Lord Cunningham walked the aisle, I felt a tear fall. She walked with her hand on her fathers arm, and smiled at me. We went through, said our vows and were officially married by the end of the day and into the night we had a small party at the Manor. Right before we retired to our quarters, Our fathers decided to stay in rooms apart from us and they took Nico, my good ring bearer, so as to not bother us. Joanna and I, however, were too tired to do anything. After a few months I noticed Joanna began acting somewhat differently. She became more fatigued and was sick almost every day. I would wake up to her, in the restroom ,then walk in to hold her hair back, then she would go back to bed and I would bring her some water. This went on for another week before I convinced her to see a doctor. She thankfully agreed and went into town with me to see the doctor.
I stood outside, waiting for her to return and hopefully it was nothing. The doctor then asked for me to come in and I did. "Sir, please have a seat." I nodded and held Joanna's hand after I sat. "Mr Baker, Have you and your wife had any initiative action recently?" I looked at him confused, "Define initiative action." Joanna stated, "Have you, or have you not done the devil's tango?" the doctor sighed. Both of our faces went red giving him the answer of yes. The doctor then smiled and before leaving the room said, "congratulations by the way, check back in next month, she's eating for two now." he left us both shocked and we just looked at eachother.
"We're going to be parents." she deadpanned, then smiled and began crying, I smiled, hugged her,and cried with her. After what felt like forever, I finally pulled away holding her arms gently, "how are we gonna tell our dad's?" I asked my eyes red, "no Idea, maybe just sit them down and talk with them like normal and casually slide that subject in. they don't know we're here since they went to the library." she said. I smiled and hugged her again, "tonight?" she laughed, "tonight."
As the day came to a close, Joanna and I sat in the study, attempting to sound like we were debating. This worked as our fathers walked in confused and slightly scared as we barely fought at all. Joanna quickly looked at them, "ok let's settle this, what is 1+1?"
"Um" my Father started "2?" he finished innocently. "Yes 2." replied Lord Cunningham.
"Ok, then why does this say three?" I asked. The men looked puzzled and looked at the diagram of 1+1=3 showing a man and woman for each of the numbers, and finally the three were the man, woman, and a child. They stood shocked before my father smiled. Lord Cunningham only looked shocked then looked toward his daughter. "No way." he said. "When did you find out?"
"This morning, Clyde took me to the doctor because I wasn't feeling the best." she smiled at her father. "While we were at the library." my father finally said. The parental figures looked at each other in realization. Joanna and I stood there smiling, knowing our plan was executed perfectly. As time went on, I stayed close to Joanna to take care of her and help her as needed while also watching the children of the village and library, though the townspeople made my 2 jobs a lot easier by asking me how to do something instead of asking me to do it. The king had visited our small village as well and saw me with the children of the village smiling. "Young man." I turned around to see him upon his horse. My eyes grew wide as I bowed, "your highness" he chuckled "Just call me Lipithy, please." I stood up and nodded. By now the children had gathered back around me scared and in awe. The king hopped off of his horse and stood in front of me. He was shorter than me by a few inches, had dark hair and his eyes were inviting. "Are any of these kids yours?" he asked, smiling, "No sir, I just look after them, but I do have a child on the way." he chuckled again, "as do I my friend." I smiled and felt a feeling of relief until one of the children pulled on my sleeve. "Clyde? Is the game over?" I smiled at him and got to the kids' level. "Yes it is, but finish your school work and we can play later ok?" The kids smiled and went their respective ways. It was quiet but only for a moment. "Would you like to join my family for dinner?" I asked, "I've never had that offer before, thank you" he smiled, a vulnerable smile showing his guard was down. "We better head that way then," I laughed as he mounted his horse once again and I turned to the side and whistled for mine. My Clydesdale came trotting ready to go and I hopped onto the saddle and began to lead the way.
Once we arrived at Cunningham manor, I led King Lipithy into the main living area where Joanna was waiting on the couch with a book in her hand. "Hello love, how was your day?" she smiled hearing my footsteps. She turned to look at me and saw the King by my side. She stood up and curtsied then smiled at him. "Hello Sir. I'm guessing Clyde invited you for dinner. I'm Joanna." she smiled as i walked over to hug her. "That he did ma'am." he laughed. The evening came and went as the three of us plus my father and father in law.
More time passed and the king and I became good friends, going on a few adventures until his son was born. I left with him to visit joanna. Our friends within our elite 4 stayed at the base in case they were needed. About a week after my return, Joanna and I were laying in bed, it was probably around 2 in the morning and we were both wide awake. Neither of us could sleep but Joanna seemed off. "Are you alright my dear?" I asked quietly. "I'm fine darling. Just uncomfortable." she replied, sounding as if she were in pain. I sat up trying to identify the problem and lit the candle beside me. She sat up with some trouble but I thought it was because of the baby. Though I was partially right, she wasn't just in pain, she was going into labor. Once I noticed this I got up and alerted our father's and sent for the doctor. The rest of that night was spent with her almost breaking my hand while I stayed by her side and our fathers waited outside. Roughly 6 hours later we met our son Jase. he had bright blue eyes and fluffy hair that resembled mine with Joanna's coloring. His crying broke my heart but he calmed down once in my arms. He was now part of my world and I was so excited and happy that I began to cry. "Hello little one '' I chuckled. Joanna was exhausted but nonetheless wanted to hold our boy. when our fathers had entered to meet their grandson they couldn't have seemed happier. My father had just pulled his silver hair back so Jase wouldn't pull it, lord Cunningham was less fortunate when it came to the newborn's grip and his hair. The doctor did his wellness check on both my wife and son before leaving with such a sincere smile.
