Hair Cut
One morning while Link was in town resupplying, Zelda was trying to do something with her hair. She wanted a change of pace and figured starting with her hair was a good place to start. "This is getting bothersome, it shouldn't be this hard!" She yelled looking into a mirror. A pair of scissors in hand Zelda tried to cut her hair as best she could but found it to be more difficult than she thought. By the time she stopped her hair was a mess. Returning, Link was met by a frustrated Zelda. She explained her frustration and Link being sympathetic suggested they could make a return trip to Kakariko and ask if Paya could help Zelda. She was a little embarrassed to be seen as she was but Link handed her his hood to shield her head. Arriving in Kakariko, Zelda had calmed down, all be it a little embarrassed by her frustration. After they spoke with Impa Zelda asked the important question. "Impa, how good is Paya with cutting hair?" "She does fine cutting her own, I take it you would like her to cut your hair." Zelda pulls back her hood revealing her handy work. Understanding Impa called for Paya who nervously came down the stairs. She brought Zelda upstairs and did what she could. While Paya cut, they talked about what Zelda had been doing since leaving Kakariko, about the other villages, and about Link. While Zelda was busy Link kept himself occupied doing things around the village. It was late noon when Link returned to Impa's abode. "So Link what do you think?" "You look wonderful, I must say I think you look better with your hair cut short." "Well in that case I might just keep it like this."
Cooking and Learning
On a particularly cheery afternoon as Link was preparing a meal Zelda came up behind him sniffing the air. "Where did you learn to cook, or are you a naturally talented chef?" "I didn't really learn from anyone, it was mostly trial and error. it's sorta like a science." "A science huh, perhaps you could teach me. Always willing to learn something new." "Well in that case let's make a trade. I'll show you what I know about cooking and you teach me something, anything." "It is a deal!" Starting off simple, Link showed Zelda a simple meat and rice dish. Pulling out slices of meat Link handed them to Zelda instructing her on how to properly prepare them. It took a few tries before Zelda could consistently cook the meat perfectly. Next Link handed her a bowl of raw rice. "Save the grease from the meat we will use them later. Put water in the rice and let it boil making sure not to overcook." After the water had boiled out Link then told her to mix a little of the grease into the rice to help blend in the meat. "And with that, you have a simple meat and rice dish. From this point, you can experiment with different ingredients like peppers or mushrooms. You did an excellent job, but that was to be expected." "Well you are a good teacher, I guess now it is my turn. What would you like to know" "About Hyrule's past." Zelda told him what she remembered from history books and legends. Some things Link was familiar with some he wasn't, then Zelda got to the legends about past heroes, something that seemed to pique Link's interest. "I see this part of our history has caught your attention. It is said that when a threat to Hyrule arises, the spirit of the first hero reincarnates to challenge it, the Master Sword is proof of his role." Zelda continued till she reached the end of what she knew. She had enjoyed talking about history more than she thought and wondered if she could do more. "Link do you know if Hateno has a school?" "Not that I am aware of but I think I know where this is headed. I had heard rumors that the mayor's wife had been pushing him to open a school. If you approach him with a plan he might leap at the chance, I would suggest speaking with Bolson first." "I might just do that, the kids need a place of learning. It seems fitting for Hyrule's rebirth to begin with a school."
Welcome Home
Link had just defeated the Demon Dragon, formerly the Demon King Ganondorf. With the combined powers of Link and the spirits of the first King and Queen, Zelda's dragon transformation was reversed. Though it was said to be impossible it happened, whether it was because of some sacred power or through love no one knows. Standing on her own two feet again, Zelda stared up at the castle which was still being held in the air. Having remained silent in confusion the whole time Link finally spoke. "Is it...really you?" Link had hoped he could find some way to reverse Zelda's condition but he was still finding it hard to accept that his fantastic hopes had been realized. "Yes, it is really me." The pain of believing he had lost Zelda forever and the anger towards Ganondorf had strained him but this sudden release had broken through his stoic facade. Link's arms began to twitch, a single tear rolled down his cheek as he reached out for Zelda. Wrapping their arms around each other they embraced as if it was their last day. "I missed you too Link." Running up from the direction of the castle, the sages plus Purah caught sight of what they had long expected. Though Link and Zelda had tried to hide their relationship their closest friends had already seen through the deception but decided not to say anything. "So this is why she had so much faith in him," Mineru thought. Purah was the first to suggest she and the sages returned to Lookout Landing giving Link and Zelda time alone with each other. After a while, Zelda asked Link to fill her in on what happened after her disappearance. "After you vanished, there was chaos and uncertainty. Ganondorf had made one of his puppets take your appearance to spread deceit and to lure me into traps." "Everyone must have gone to great lengths to fight the Demon King's onslaught, I hope everyone is okay." Returning to Lookout Landing, Zelda was welcomed back with a hundred cries of joy. The following morning Zelda, Link, Purah, and the other sages saw Mineru off. With the Demon King destroyed there was no reason for her to linger in the world of the living. Before she departed Mineru oversaw the new sages make a vow of loyalty to Zelda, something that she knew would please Rauru and Sonia to know. That night a feast occurred to celebrate the fall of the Demon King and the return of the Princess. After taking time to socialize and speak with her friends, Zelda wandered off under the night sky with Link next to her. Playfully, Zelda teased Link about being the only one to not make a vow that morning. Taking hold of Zelda's side Link played along, "Why make a vow of loyalty when I have already pleaded my heart to you." "A perfect answer," Zelda said with a slight chuckle in her voice.
