Tamara's POV
I held back on telling Xavier about the person I thought I saw in the yard that night because somehow I felt like my mind was playing tricks on me.
However It's been on my mind and every night since being at his house I woke up to check if the person has returned. I never saw them again.
"Are you ready to go?"
Yes," I answered him.
I spent most of the time at his house and yesterday I took Marley back to Chev. Xavier went out alot but I didn't allow it to bother me because I knew he had things to do plus he had to help his mom a lot at her spa.
Going back to work after two weeks felt like I was walking into a minefield. Xavier offered to take me and on the way he asked me several times if I was sure I wanted to go back. I reassured him that I was ok with going, if anything I would leave if I felt uncomfortable.
Sher wasn't there when I got in. I just started to work. About half hour into checking off some items Mr. Chin sent someone to call me.
On my way up to his office I prayed he wasn't going to ask me to travel with him again to the bank. "Today is the day I will quit," I said before I pushed his office door open.
"Tamara come in."
I entered the office and sat in the chair at his desk. "How are you?" he asked.
Honestly I want to throw up all over you then quit after. But I need the job so I am going to hold my vomit for another day.
"I'm doing ok."
"Good. I am glad you are doing better, that's what I called you in here to check on you. I must say that you are really brave and I appreciate you coming back here to work."
"Well I was shaken up a bit but I am good now."
"Good to hear. Just because of your work ethic, I have a position for you and you don't have to take it right away."
"What position is that sir?"
"The magineral position is open in merchandising, it's yours if you want it."
"Are you giving it to me out of pity?" I had to ask because I have been here for years and wasn't considered for anything until Sannon went on leave.
It seems as if that's what he was doing but I did not want to earn a potion because he felt like he owed me one.
"No, I believe that you are a good worker and you deserve it. Like I said, it's yours only if you want it."
"Can I have some time to think about it?"
"Yes Miss Simpson, you can take as much time as you need."
"Thank you sir."
"You are welcome."
I got up in a hurry and left the office. The bathroom was a place of refuse at this moment. I nervously called Xavier but he didn't pick up. Splashing some water over my face didn't seemed to help so I locked myself into one of the stalls to calm myself down.
When I finally came out I found Sher at the register. It was a slow day so she did not have any customers at the moment.
"Can I tell you what just happened to me?" I asked her while I was pretending to assist her at her register.
"A wah now?" she asked, equally whispering.
"Chin just offered me the manager position in merchandising."
"Mi rassclaat, nuh Michell position that?"
'Exactly what I was thinking, I am already filling in for Shannon. Now I was to take someone else's spot?"
