"Honey, get ready for school"

I lift the covers off of me and drag myself out of bed.

I have no friends, so why should I be happy.

I do my daily morning routine and skip breakfast for today. I grab my bag and open the front door.

"Bye momma" I say closing the door behind me.

I walk up to the bus stop and sit on the curb.

"I don't like going to school" I sigh.

"Why" I repeat to myself.

I see a shadow appear out of nowhere. I look up to see Nash, a popular kid at school.

"Are you talking to yourself?" He furrows his brow.

"Sorry, it's a habit...." I say looking down from shame.

He smiles and nods.

I get onto the bus and sit alone by the window. Then Nash comes and sits beside me.

He smiles at me, but I don't smile back.

We arrive at school 15 minutes later, which felt like forever sitting beside him.

"Hey, why don't you talk to anyone?"

I look at him without saying a word.

He waits for answer, but I walk away.

"Okay" I hear him say.

If he continues to try to talk to me, this is gonna be a LONG school year.
