"Even if it's just for now.. I want you to smile!"

Those were the words that rang in Kanade's head, over and over again. When she was walking home with Ena, all she could think of was Minori's words. Her voice whenever she called Kanade's name. It made Kanade feel strange, it was like her heart felt lighter all of a sudden and her cheeks felt a bit warmer than they should be.

"Smile..." She murmured to herself, catching the attention of Ena who stood beside her.

"Hmm? Didn't quite catch that?" The brunette cocked her head and raised an eyebrow, looking up from her phone for the moment.

Kanade's eyes widened a little when she realized she'd said that out loud and her cheeks got a little pinker.

"I was just.." She paused halfway, "thinking about what Hanasato-San said to me earlier."

It was driving her crazy. No one has ever outright told her that they wanted her to smile. Not since her dad got sick.

When she was alone afterwards, she had used the excuse to go to the bathroom.
Her hand subconsciously grabbed at the fabric over her heart.

"Hanasato-San.." She whispered quietly, just wanting to say her name.

And that brings us back here.

After she and Ena went their separate ways, she let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. Kanade wanted to be alone so she could reflect.

"I wasn't supposed to be having fun today.." A voice in her head whispered to the girl. "It was for my music. But.. for someone to want to make me smile..? That was strange."

Kanade was always the one who made others smile; not the other way around. She always worked hard, composing, rarely taking breaks, only taking care of herself for the sake of being able to continue working.

This made her realize something.

"Maybe.. I can afford to be a little selfish sometimes."

She didn't even realize that she was almost in front of her house. Her legs were sore from all the moving and she was slouching more than usual. With a sigh, she worked towards the Yoisaki household and pushed the door open because she forgot to lock it.

The girl closed the door behind her and stuck the key in the lock and twisted it. Once that was done, she tiredly walked up to her room and collapsed onto her cold, soft bed.

"I'm so.. tired.." Kanade muttered to herself, sprawling out on her back.

After around an hour, she found that her thoughts were wondering back to earlier today.

"Even if it's just for now.. I want you to smile!"

"I want to give you my support in a way that helps you move forward!"

"Kanade-chaaaaaan!!"

"Really? I'm glad to hear that you're fine!"

"I was worried that I made you push yourself a little too hard.."

"I was wondering if you were okay"

"You're doing great, Kanade-chan!"

Minori Hanasato's voice was stuck in Kanade's head for some reason.

She had been worried about her. She thought it was cool that Kanade was doing something so selfless and that made the blue haired girl feel so strange yet so warm. When Minori reached out and said "Here, grab on" it was like the sun had taken Kanade by the hand. She felt that she would melt back to the floor of the roller skating rink.
