Silent Beauty

Chapter 2: The Reason Why

Ichigo's POV:

A Soul Reaper? What is that? Kira scribbled on my arm in pen. Usually I would be pissed about someone writing on my arm but, for some reason I wasn't. 

"It's um, um..." I strugggled to find the right words. Then, Kira grabbed my arm again and wrote on it.

You don't even know?

"It's hard to explain....I guess, all you need to know, is I kill those weirdo monsters that are called Hollows. They're bad/evil spirits that eat human souls."

She nodded and kept walking on, we had been walking talking to each other. Her writing on my arm, me answering through talking. I was wondering why she wasn't talking but, something deep inside of me, figured that she wouldn't want to talk about it.

However, I had to be an idiot and ask her.

"Why don't you talk, Kira?" I whispered and she stopped in front of me. Her back was facing me, I couldn't see her expression.

Suddenly she turned around and wrote something slowly on my palm.

I promised 

When I looked up she was already climbing up the stairs of an apartment building in front of me. Something was familar about this place...

I shook my head and stared at my hand. Who makes a promise to be silent? Anyways, how was I gonna get this off of my arm!

"Have you guys heard of a girl named Kira Kigirinai?" I asked.

Chad, Uryu, and Orihime all turned to look at me. It was lunch break and we were all sitting on the rooftop of the high school.

"You mean the one that goes to our school? In Class E?" Orihime asked.

I nodded. "Yeah, I saved her from a Hollow yesterday. She wouldn't talk to me though, but I'm sure she could see me."

"I was best friends with her when we were 10. But, right before her eyes, her parents were murdered." Orihime whispered and my eyes widened.

"She lives in the apartment across from me. I offer to walk home with her but, she doesn't answer me, she hasn't talked to anyone since then." She added.

"Well, that would explain why she doesn't talk. That sometimes happens to people that have traumatic expierences happen to them." Uryu said, taking a bite of a riceball.

"That's not it though, she said that she 'promised'" I explained.

"I don't know about that, like I said, she barely even talks to anyone." Orihime said.

"I'm surprised she talked to you." Uryu added.

"What's that supposed to mean?!?" I growled, glaring at him.

"Nothing, although, you are pretty scary looking."

I grabbed him by his collar. "You better shut your damn mouth, before I do it for ya!"

"Where's dad?" I asked as I plopped down on the couch in front of the TV.

"At a meeting." Karin said beside me, putting a handful of popcorn in her mouth. We were watching the boring old news when a sudden scene popped on the screen.

"This is just live! A fire has started at the apartment building on Reichi Street! The reinforcements have yet to find any survivors!" The woman on the screen reported. I stood up when I recognized the building.

"Kira!" I shouted and ran out the door.
