"Tessa?! Tessa Hale is that you?" Sarah asked giving me a bright Colgate smile.

Sarah Grey used to be our schools "IT" girl before she left the summer before senior year to do a few runway shows for her mothers modeling company.

With gorgeous golden locks. Sparkly blue eyes and the perfect body, of course she'd be model material.

What made her more perfect was her personality. She didn't care that her parents were filthy rich, she never looked down upon anyone and she loved helping people.

Before she moved she used to volunteer at the local animal shelter as well as our orphanage.

Sarah Grey wasn't someone you could hate. It was utterly impossible.

I smiled up at Sarah, ignoring the person standing next to her who was staring at me with those bright hazel eyes I fell in love with.

"Yes Sarah it's me!" I exclaimed happily.

She squealed before running over to give me a hug which was pretty awkward considering there was a table in the way.

Me and Sarah weren't best of friends but we were pretty close before she left and I'd be lying if I said I hadn't missed her bubbly attitude.

"When did you get back?" I asked as we both pulled away.

"Oh just two days ago! Kayden here has been helping me settle back in and everything," she exclaimed pointing at him.

As I was about to speak someone cleared their throat and I turned around to see Felix standing next to me.

'Woah, when did he get back' I thought.

"Felix!" Sarah squealed once again before pulling him into a bone crushing hug.

"Sarah, hey! You're back," Felix exclaimed with a hint of new found happiness.

You see, ever since the 5th grade, Felix has had the biggest crush on Sarah and vice versa. They have just always been too shy to tell each other which caused them to date the wrong people.

Sarah pulled away slightly from Felix, giving him a huge smile. "Yes, I was just telling Tessa that I got back two days ago."

"That's great!" Felix exclaimed smiling at her before it faltered when he saw the person standing behind her.

"Kayden," Felix exclaimed in a monotone.

"Felix," Kayden replied in the same tone.

Sarah pulled away from Felix, noticing the tension between the two. She turned to me and gave me a skeptical look but I just grabbed my lemonade and took a sip.

"Okay... Well my parents are throwing me a 'Welcome Back' party tonight, you two should totally come! That way we can catch up and you can tell me what's been going on Tessa," Sarah exclaimed hinting that she wanted to know what had caused the thick tension that was surrounding us.

I slightly nodded. "Yeah Sarah, I'll be there."

"Great! Well we'll leave you two to enjoy your lunch! I'll see you guys later," and with that her and Kayden walked away to the other side of the restaurant.

"Well," Felix exclaimed as he sat down across from me, "that was...something."

"Tell me about it," I mumbled, taking another sip of my lemonade.

[Kayden's POV]

"Um what was that all about?" Sarah asked as we took a seat in one of the booths at the far end of the restaurant.

Away from Tessa and her friend.

Gosh how much I disliked that guy. He was always around Tessa, even when we were dating. He was always fucking there. Like her damn shadow or something.

It was annoying.

"What do you mean," I asked, although I clearly knew what she was referring too.

The tension had been so thick you could cut it with a knife.

"Don't be stupid Kay. You know what I'm talking about," she exclaimed glaring at me.

Of course Sarah could see right through my bullshit. We had been friends since diapers, and although we were complete opposites, we both understood each other.

Sarah was the only person, apart from myself, who knew me. The real me. Not the tough asshole I pretend to be 99% of the time.

"Hello, earth to Kayden," she exclaimed snapping her manicured fingers in front of my face.

I blinked before shrugging. "It was nothing Sarah. Just a little bad blood between me and Santos," I said referring to him by his last name.

Saran continued to glare. "Yeah I can see that, but why? Did something happened that you haven't told me while I was gone? Because I clearly remember you being fine with Felix before. I mean you guys weren't friends, but it didn't look like you wanted to kill each other either."

Whoever keep up with the saying that all blondes are stupid clearly has never met Sarah Elizabeth Grey. I swear this girl was smarter then Einstein himself.

I sigh annoyed by all her questioning. "Look Sarah, you're like my best friend and I love you and all but just let it go. I don't want to talk about it okay?"

She gave me one last glare before sighing. "Fine, but I will find out what's going on Brooks. That's a promise," she exclaimed before turning to the waitress who had arrived to take our order.
