Chapter 5

I was so nervous ,it was becoming insane. I had no need to be so scared- it's not like he's a stranger ,I've known him since I was in first year.

Soon enough I decided I would get ready. I slipped on a casual black dress with a low back and my black Chelsea boots. I put my hair up into a messy bun as I didn't want to look too formal ,I would have looked like I was trying too hard ,which I definitely didn't want.

It was 7:00 so I headed down stairs into the lounge and he was waiting already. He was wearing some tight jeans with some converse and loose shirt.
His eyes sparkled as he saw me. He ran his hand through his beautiful blonde-brown hair.
"How long have you been there!" I said trying to break the awkwardness.
"Haha not long really.." He looked round shyly
"Why don't we walk around the castle for a bit" he said softly.
I didn't have time to say anything as he slipped his hand into mine ,as I was staring into his beautiful eyes.
He's gorgeous.

He seemed as if he was nervous. Soon enough we were out of the castle ,away from the rest of the students. It was becoming dark ,because it was nearly Winter. It was slightly chilly out as well and I didn't bring a coat because I was stupid.

For about 5 minutes we spent walking around in silence ,his hand around mine. We'd have to be back inside by 8:00 as that was the curfew.
He finally spoke up " I want to talk to you, it's important"
We sat down on the field overlooking the lake. We stayed silent for a few seconds.
He finally spoke up "You know how ,well..."
"..Yes?" I replied
"How I'm a d-death-"
"Yes I know" I said.
"No one else knows at school -they can't find out" he said almost in a whisper "I trust you"
At that moment he grabbed hold if my hand "it wasn't my decision- it was my parents" he continued
"but,I don't really want to talk about them"

I replied "I only know about you and ,urm you-know-who ,because you told me ages ago at quidditch , but I understand that it wasn't your decision"
"I just wanted to make sure you didn't think I was a bad person"
"Of course I don't, Thomas."

We lay on the grass for ages, gazing into the stars and talking about different things, when he put his arms around my waist ,and whispered to me "I love you", he kissed me carefully on the cheek. Which I wasn't expecting.
"I love you too" I whispered back as I put my arms over his shoulders and kissed him lightly on his soft lips.
For a while we just stared into each-other's eyes , I was pretty sure that I could get lost in his deep green eyes. We lay there for a bit longer and soon he smiled slightly ,and he got up from the grass and held out his hand which I took as I got up as well.

We spoke for ages as we walked back ,forgetting our earlier conversation. We got back to our common room a few minutes after curfew , the rest of the slytherin students were still in the common room ,as it was only 8:17 ,so they hadn't gone to bed yet.
I went over to Dana and Pansey who were sitting on the black faux leather sofas across the room. Thomas went over to his friends who were somewhere else in the common room. I sat with Dana and Pansey for an hour ,as they were discussing how ridiculous the homework was from Professor Snape. He expected us to complete a 10 page essay by Monday ,and he set it yesterday ,Friday. I decided I would have to do it tomorrow, I was too busy earlier that day. Dana said she'd write hers too also.

"So ,What's happening between you and Callahan?"she whispered with a smirk on her face.
I couldn't help but go red "Nothing ,why would you say that?" I blurted out.
She looked at me with one eyebrow raised.
"I'm not stupid" she said with a laugh.
"To be honest I'm not really sure either.."
I replied
"Oh alright then" she replied still looking at me curiously
"What?!" I laughed
"It's so cute!!!" She whispered
"What!? Wait no! you're getting the wrong idea.." I tried to say convincingly
"Shut up Avery , I know what's going on" she said, brushing her brown hair away from her face so she could look into my eyes as I replied.
"Well how would you know?" I responded
"Because I'm your best friend ,I know what you're like" she replied with a smile.

She understood all my moods and everything about me. Similarly I knew everything about her.We had known each other since we were 6 as our parents were really good friends.

It was now 10:00 and I decided I would go to bed so I could get up early to do my essay. Dana said she was going to as well. A lot of the other students were in their dormitories already, with some still sitting around the sofas and fire.

I got up to walk up the stairs, and I saw Thomas. He mouthed goodnight to me and I smiled back and continued up the stairs. I got upstairs and got changed into my pyjamas ,and I took all my makeup off. I finally fell asleep thinking about the day I just had, but the only thing on my mind was
'what if my mother found I out was in love with a death eater?'
