the dreaded time had come. you had arranged for lunch with minho earlier this morning when you were in his laps, in his bed, but now it felt just so wrong. you thought eunha would always be the one – no matter how hard you tried to get him out of your thoughts, he would just stay still, carving deep into the skin of your soul. you missed him, truly. but you were starting to like minho as well. who would you choose?

as the bell shouted for dismissal, you met minho in front of the school gate. as you stared at the stone gate, you couldn't help but feel like the two stars which used to have a bond dimmed down. was this your own hallucination that caused this phenomenon? probably. but as you saw the other star adjacent to the one which used to glow bright, daring to shine bright, you couldn't help but feel like this was some sort of signal to leave eunha behind and star a new life with minho.

"boo!"

"oh my holy gods minho!" you pouted, crossing your arms and furrowing your eyebrows are him.

"aww yuju im sorryyyyyy" minho trailed.

"hmph!"

"you ready to go out for lunch though? i have a good restaurant in mind." he smiled at you. nodding, you inched closer to minho for warmth in the cold winter weather. minho, like a true gentleman he is, have you his jacket, covering you with it. it was big and had a faint scent of pudding.

he hopped into the car, dragging you by the wrist to join him in the passenger seat. with one hand in the steering wheels and another caressing your thigh, you couldn't help but blush at the thought that the most attractive man ever, minho, was treating you like his little passenger princess. you traced his veiny hands with your eyes, trailing it up to his neck, where his adam apple bobbed when he caught you staring.

"you're staring, yuju"

"no i'm not"

"liar"

you looked away, embarrassed, ashamed even, that you could've been falling in love with your toxic ex's best friend in the matter of weeks.

as you approached the restaurant, you saw the beautifully decorated, beige-colored restaurant, tidily messy, disgustingly pleasant. flickering fairy lights dangling, dancing to the rhythm of your heartbeat, old polaroids proudly being displayed on the body of the door. however, deep down, deep underneath the layer of blankets, the layer of pretend, was a heart, slowly breaking. your beauty, your confidence, your life, slowly cracking, crumbling.

as you headed back to school, minho was smiling from eye to eye, so genuine it was as if eunha never took you, or you both, seriously. but he still dared to come back running to you when you told him it was over, told him he didn't have a chance, and told him you would never love him ever again.

but what eunha didn't know was this. the reason why you would never love him again was because you'd found someone better to love — his best friend.
