"We'll keep you with us."

...

I claimed a cell as my own and cried. I balled up on the uncomfortable bed and cried, my eyes puffing up. I muffled my loud cries in the dirty pillow, and I gripped the sheets. "Oh, please, God help me!" -- was the only thing in my train of thought.
It was so childish that I was bawling over my mom. Look at the world now! Biters roaming suburban neighborhoods, eating poor animals, ... eating poor humans. I should've learned to grow past this phase of fear and guilt, but.. the entity that took my mom and my sister's vessel still roams in that town, I have that suspicion. -- I thought I could've rebuilt in Woodbury until a group came shooting and blasting, bringing biters across the town.
My moment of guilt and pain I suffered came to a short end as something jabbed my back slightly, making me flinch and turn around in instinct.

"You okay?" Merle said, poking me with his bayonet.
"No, dude," I replied, wiping my soaked face. "Who even are you people?.."
"Told ya' you'd end up learnin'. Just stick with us for a bit and yer on ya' way to survival," He said, squatting to eye level with me. "Yer too pretty to be cryin' like this, doll."
I pushed him away a few inches. "You're weird!" I huffed. Merle replied, snarkily. "Ol' Merle here just is always like that. You can even ask my baby brother!"
"Why are you even bothering me right now?!"
"Just was poppin' in. Try to see if we can get along." He said, lifting himself and approaching the door. I watched him leave, and I grabbed my bag, opening the zip on the front and pulling the little sock monkey I bought for my baby sister out. I smiled at it, despite my sadness and tears still swelling in my eyes.

I heard a slight knocking. "Yo." A man with medium-length brown hair and a poncho said, turning the corner and walking into my cell. "I see you know my brother, huh?"
... "Yeah. Big macho in Woodbury. I didn't talk to him then, but I didn't even know his name."
"He saved yer' ass out there, did you thank him?" He said.
I nodded my head. "By the way, the name's Daryl."
I smiled at him and waved before he left the room.

"Hffff.." I sighed, sitting back down. My anxiety reached its peak if I even tried leaving this cell, let alone interacting with people. I decided to get some sleep since I barely did.

The time just had hit 2:46 PM. Rubbing my eyes, I woke up. "Shit," I muttered, yawning and stretching.
I finally mustered the courage to exit my cell... Actually, it was because I was really hungry, and I wanted to see if Merle's group had food.
My feet walked down the cold, metal stairs as my palm slid down the railing.
"Good morning, (Y/N)!" A blonde girl in her late teens shouted gleefully in my direction. "Oh, hi?" I said. "What's your name?" ... "Beth." She replied. "I heard Merle brought ya in. There are not a lot of girls here, so I'm glad I got someone new to talk to!"
I smiled widely at her. "My name is (Y/N), Beth is such a beautiful name!"
She giggled adorably. "My daddy says the same! Have you met him yet?" ... "No," I replied. "Seems like a wonderful being for giving you such a nice name!"
... "I oughtta' go now, daddy's waitin' out in the yard for me. Talk to you later!"

It's nice knowing there was a bit of humanity left in this world. I waved Beth off before roaming around. I passed a few cells before someone dragged me into their cell. -it was Merle.
"Hey princess." He said with a cigarette in his mouth. "Ya' meet everyone?"
"Only Beth, and don't call me princess.."
"Then whaddya want me to call ya'?"
"By my name." I replied.
