Why are these clothes so annoying? I grunted and wiggled into a red maroon dress.
I huffed a piece of hair out of my face after sliding my shoes on. I'm not fern, so I guess finger combing is just going to have to do for now.
I looked at myself in the mirror, deeming my appearance good enough before slipping out of the bathroom to see Adonis leaning against the door in a casual manner.
What time is it anyway? Well, he can just get over it.
Brushing my hands over the fabric, I looked at him, "I think this will do," I announced.
His eyes looked up from his phone, his gaze scanning my body before he hummed in what seemed to be approval. "Took you awhile, firecracker," he chuckled, pushing off of the door.
"They don't make these things so simple to slide on, you know. I was almost strangled,' I muttered, rolling my eyes as he extended his arm,
letting me loop it through his. "I'm sure you can handle yourself when it comes to shredding fabric," he whispered over my head, making a soft smile lift on my lips.
Damn right I can.
He straightened up as we continued walking down the hall. "Why are you taking me to dinner and not Fern?" I questioned, giving him a side look.
"You'll find out once we get there why I'm the one that came and got you," he assured as we turned the corner.
"I could have walked there myself," I taunted, shaking my head. He smiled, "Little firecracker has been making detailed maps, I see. I bet you can find your way here by yourself, but I also know good and well you also know where the exits are, and we can't have that," he joked as he opened the door.
Everyone bowed their heads with respect as I walked back, my mind still thinking of his words as he pulled out my seat and guided me down on it before scooting me in.
Adonis, took his place, inclining his head towards the two distinguished gentlemen.
Adonis took his seat next to me as my eyes danced between the two new faces that sat at the table in front of me. "This is Icarus, he's my head warrior here," Adonis explained as Icarus nodded.
His dark brown hair looked tousled against his dark olive skin, making his blue eyes stand out unnaturally. I gave him a nod back before he reached out his hand. I took it, feeling the calloused palms underneath.
He was surely a good fighter, I could tell. "It's very nice to meet you. It's good to see what the buzz around here is about," he expressed, while amusement danced in his eyes.
I cleared my throat, taking my hand back. "Likewise," I agreed, giving him another nod.
My eyes traveled to the other guy. His gaze glanced over to size me up. His dark blue eyes locked into mine, making me look at his nicely polished blonde hair, feeling awkward.
This guy has a bitch face for sure. "And this is Ryker, my very annoying beta," Adonis hinted as he looked over at me.
"Icarus is going to be your bodyguard during your time here," he added. I squinted my eyes at him as he smiled, waving a hand at me.
"He stays across the hall from you, so it fits perfectly that way," he finished. I couldn't help the blasted sigh that left my throat as I dropped my head.
I'm not a child; I'm a grown woman. "And why do I need a bodyguard?" I groaned, looking at Adonis. "I'm not always going to be here watching over you, so it's for your safety," he explained, making me roll my eyes.
I don't need the overprotectiveness.
"Since Ryker is my beta, once you get back to being a bit stable, you will be spending every weekend with him to train," Adonis went on, making me glare at him before looking at a blank expression on Ryker's face.
