"There Is No Good And Evil. There Is Only Power And
Those Too Weak To Seek It."- VOLDEMORT
Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone

This is a perfect line from the dark lord which can be used to sum up all of his motivations.
Voldemort's ambition and ruthlessness stem from his desire for power, devoid of moral considerations. This lack of ethical perspective leads him to ruthlessly attack and eliminate anyone obstructing his path.
His insatiable hunger for power eventually leads to his downfall. Seeking to eradicate any potential threat to his existence, he attempts to kill the Potters, inadvertently allowing Harry to survive.
In his quest for the most powerful wand, he pilfers it from Dumbledore's grave, only to discover its loyalty lies with Potter. Voldemort fails to grasp the significance of love's power and remains oblivious to the true weakness he displays throughout his journey.
