OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY!! the first chapters finally here!
I decided to fall bakc and go to third person. If I didn't, propinquity would probably never start. And if I never got the idea to start over, propinquity would probably be finished
BUT, everything's all done and here is the first chapter! I will try to update weekly. Enjooooyyy!!
~Summer. The sun is shining, the plants blooming. Kids scream and run outside, hurting your ears. And maybe, the part inside of you that used to be one of them, too.
And yet, you can't help smiling at them. Or joining them.
Elliot Sullivan can attest to this. Whole-heartedly, even. He acknowledges this, watching them dance in the rain while he's pumping his legs as fast he can on his bike pedals through the rain.
He's got a destination. A destination which was only 20 minutes away from his home. Which–additionally– would be much easier to reach if he'd just taken his beaten up honda. He carelessly drops his bike on the street, right next to a parked car. And from there, he runs to the porch and knocks on the door. When there's no answer, he yells at the top of his lungs.
"Open the door!"
Once again, he's met with silence. He raises his fist to knock again, when it swings open, slamming against the wall.
A girl stands there, rubbing her eyes with the back of her hand. Her chestnut-colored hair is frizzy, and she's wearing a very long shirt and pajama pants made for children. None other than Zara McAllister, her younger sibling.
"I'm not accepting telemarketers at this time," she states, crossing her arms, before her eyebrows shoot up upon seeing him.
"Hi," he chirped, straightening up. "Is Audrey home?"
She stammered, "Yes, but–"
"Thanks."
Elliot gently stepped beside her and let himself inside. It was cold, however he barely registered it with the heat buzzing off his arms. A white poodle with a pink bow drank water in the corner. He shook his shoes off and jogged to the second door on the left–where Audrey's bedroom resided.
He let himself inside.
Music blared from a boombox decorated with flowers, and clothes laid strewn across the floor. He looked up, then around, and–
"Don't come in, I'm changing!"
He quickly stepped back, tripping over a stray wire. Just as he was about to topple over, something caught him.
Or someone.
"Kidding!" It giggled.
Elliot jumped and whipped around.
There she stood, a comb wedged halfway through her fading blonde hair. She'd gained a tan over the summer; much like him. She grinned at him, her light eyes twinkling. He deeply sighed, the sudden shock draining out of him.
"You scared me," he said. She nodded. "I know. That was the plan."
Of course, he thought sarcastically. Why hadn't I thought of that?
"What's going on?"
"Nothing really," she replied. "Just interning at the vet. They gave me a raise.""You ever get bored?" To him, the idea seemed like a bunch of unnecessary torture.
"Nope!" she chirped back. "I love it there."
Once Elliot situated himself, Audrey stood in front of him , striking a pose.
"What do you think about this outfit?" She asked. "I've been searching for hours."
