Zayn's P.O.V
I could feel the warm tears flow down my cheeks. Normally I would never let anyone see me in this state of emotion. But there was something about this girl that I couldn't understand, I just couldn't figure out what it was.
The traffic light turned green, I stepped on the gas as if trying to get away from this emotion that has unexpectedly shown itself. The road was long and straight with a few cars scattered along the way. There was forest on either side of the asphalt and I no longer had any clue of where we were or where we were going.
After traveling well over the speed limit, we came across what seemed to be a vacant motel. Perfect.
By this time, it was almost midnight and we had been driving since about three in the afternoon. Ellie had fallen asleep around an hour after I told her about our situation. She hadn't really talked that much to me, I guess because she lost all trust in me. This thought sent a pang of pain through my body.
"Hey, Ellie," I cooed, gently shaking her shoulder. She stirred a bit before stretching her arms and opening her blue eyes.
"Come on inside," I said nodding my head to the motel we were parked in front of.
She nodded, sliding out of the car and grabbing her suitcase. She groggily walked over to the main office door, pausing to turn around. She looked around, not recognizing where she was, she stepped inside. I came inside after her, stepped in front of her to the desk.
There was a guy who appeared to be nineteen years old behind the wooden desk. His hair was greasy and had bright red pimples covering his face.
"Hey, we need a room," I said to the boy. He sighs, pulling out a key from a drawer and tossed it on the desk.
"Room 20,"
I picked it up and mumbled a quick thank you before nudging Ellie back outside to go to our room. She grabbed the handle to her suitcase and drowsily stepped out of the door into the chilly nighttime air. I followed closely behind. She strolled down the covered sidewalk until we got to a door that's red paint was peeling off, revealing an awful green color.
Ellie stuck out her hand for the key, never making eye contact or saying anything. I placed the small key into her palm, which she took, unlocking the door and pushing it open. Immediately, she dropped her suitcase and crawled into bed; which, there was only one of.
I sighed, placing the duffel next to Ellie's suitcase. I slipped under the sheets next to her. She shifted her body to the very edge of the bed, taking most of the covers with her. It was okay though, I deserved it.
After about five minutes I could hear soft puffs of air coming from Ellie, signaling that she was asleep. I found my eyelids start to get heavy shortly after that, and let them close.
I woke up to a beeping noise. I opened my drowsy eyes and looked around. The light streaming through the sheer curtains was bright, illuminating the small room. It was not a particularly nice room, and I wasn't expecting it to be.
I turned my attention to Ellie, which over night had shifted herself over to my body. She was probably cold, even though she had protected most of the sheets. I smiled at her sleeping figure. I turned to pick up my phone from the small table next to me, it was seven in the morning. I put it back where it was and rotated my gaze back to Ellie.
Her blonde hair was in a messy ponytail with strands sticking out in all directions. I scanned over her features, the next thing I noticed was her eyes. They were red and puffy, like she'd been crying recently. She shifted her body and flicked her eyes open.
