San got more information about his future child and with the help of the security team, who got us everything we wrote down for them, we were able to get all the furniture we needed in time, as well as clothes, toys and food. The little girl was 10 months old, had already been given up for adoption at birth before the pandemic and was supposed to be adopted by a nice couple. But a week before, they died and the baby had been raised by the nurses in hospital for months. Of course, this was no condition for a child and the social worker was more than happy to bring the little girl, who didn't even have a name, to us.
The night before, San and Seonghwa sat desperately in San and Yeosang's room trying to set up the crib, which only ended in cursing and wailing, which Lee and I watched with amusement.
"Lee, you went to university... Can't you help us?" San tried to get help, but Lee shook his head.
"I can take people apart and mend them, but furniture... forget it. I can't even put together an Ikea living room table." she refused directly, whereupon San looked at me with a hopeful expression. But I also raised my hands in disapproval.
"Yunho and Wooyoung put together the furniture in my apartment. I don't even know how to follow the instructions." The boys sighed in disappointment, but luckily Mingi came and rolled his sleeves up to his elbows and after 20 minutes the crib was ready, and after another 30 minutes the changing unit was assembled.
"Actually, you'd better change the little one on a blanket on the floor... there's no risk of falling... they fall off the changing table so quickly..." said Lee and Mingi gave her an annoyed look.
"Wouldn't it have been better if you had said that before setting up?" he asked her and she shrugged her shoulders innocently.
"Well, there are drawers on there too... so we need the chest of drawers for the clothes anyway." I calmed the situation.
"Oh God... I have to change the baby? I haven't even thought about that..." moaned San, who was now hiding his face behind his hands and making us all smile.
"We'll help you with that, of course." Seonghwa comforted him and stroked his back encouragingly.
"Yeosang will make eyes when he wakes up..."
"Just tell him you were pregnant when he fell into a coma... and I'll take a picture of the stupid face he'll make." Mingi laughed and San shook his head in amusement.
"He doesn't believe that and it doesn't even have anything to do with the fact that it doesn't work..."
"Then what?" Mingi asked innocently, while Seonghwa, Lee and I laughed because we had understood what San was alluding to.
"I'll probably have to teach you a few things when we're married." Lee said with a grin and Mingi blushed a little. I had noticed for some time that the two of them liked each other very much and neither of them complained that they were getting married in a few days. At least their marriage had a chance.
If my boyfriend didn't wake up soon, I'd have to marry my best friend, which wouldn't be a real marriage, like Mingi and Lee, but better than to a stranger. But... wasn't I also depriving Seonghwa of the opportunity to find someone and maybe be happy? It would also be nicer for him to marry someone he loves... But we had no other option, so we made an appointment the day before the deadline.
The next morning, there was a woman at the door with a really cute girl in her arms. As soon as San opened the door and saw her, he smiled so brightly that his dimples showed and she promptly stretched her little arms out towards him. Well, if it wasn't love at first sight...
