Kagami and Hatsumi Akiyama always grew up together, side by side and never separated, even after their parents disappearance and growing up in the church under the guardianship of one of the priests; Seiji Komori. Kagami always protecting Hatsumi from the crueler nature of the world around them, Hatsumi happily living in bliss under her sister's shadow but she never minded. Now at the age of 16 and 15, the two are forced to move into a manor following their guardian going overseas for business, do they wonder; will they be able to stay together? Will they come out as they always have; together, side by side, and alive? And more importantly.... Will they come out with their sanity intact?

Kagami Akiyama is the older, fraternal twin sister of Hatsumi who alongside her sister grew up in the church following the disappearance of their parents when they were very young, Kagami plays the role of the mother and protector wrapped up into one when it comes to her sister, she alongside her sister was sent to the Sakamaki Manor after their guardian Seiji Komori went overseas for business. Kagami is a brave, reliable, strong, mature, and hard-working person, although headstrong about doing things on her own as she is shown to become easily irritated when bossed around. Kagami has no reservations about getting dirty or messy or having any proper eating etiquette such as chewing with her mouth open and burping, and unwilling to bother with making the bed. Kagami has a strong distaste for things that are "girly" and "fancy", she will not usually wear dresses unless it's a former situation and even then, it is rather casual. Kagami is occasionally very stubborn and inflexible, causing her to be hostile toward others or incapable of seeing alternate solutions to a problem. Specifically, in regards to her sister, she shows great resilience when being offered help, working herself past exhaustion and near the point of passing out. Due to how deeply she loves her sister, Kagami is often shown to be one of the more empathetic out of her and Hatsumi, putting the needs and feelings of others before her own. Being naturally honest to a fault, Kagami finds it difficult to go against her natural honesty in situations where it is required to lie; usually sweating and smiling nervously. Kagami's personal beliefs on honesty are directly connected to her upbringing, making her physically incapable of lying.

Hatsumi Akiyama is the younger, fraternal twin sister of Kagami who alongside her sister grew up in the church following the disappearance of their parents when they were very young, Hatsumi plays the role of the doctor and mediator wrapped up into one when it comes to her sister, she alongside her sister was sent to the Sakamaki Manor after their guardian Seiji Komori went overseas for business. Hatsumi is a loving, gentle and caring individual who treats others as if they were dear friends, always showing sincere warmth and kindness towards them and in turn, others greatly respect her and she is shown to be rather good with children who bounce in joy over spending even a small amount of time with Hatsumi, and Hatsumi enjoys all the time she spends with them. For her warm and serene nature, Hatsumi does have a mischievous side that comes out especially when dealing with her sister, and other people such as Ayato and Subaru. Hatsumi is an extremely brave, heroic and selfless person whose put herself through extreme displeasure and draining routines to keep her loved ones safe from harm's way.
