Chapter 13 : The Message

It was a fresh morning today. The sun was peaking in from the canopy of trees giving raise to tyndall effect. One could hear the distant voice of birds chirpping and the soothing sound of crashing sea waves. Everyone had already had breakfast and now the boys were hanging around the table while the girls were getting ready inside for a dip.

Aaron, Matt, Sebestian, Liam and Lucas were feeling extra adventurous today and were trying to race to climb a tree. On the other hand the two laid back guys Kai and Damien were engaged in a serious conversation about the probability of one of them falling down and breaking a bone.

When the girls came out from the tent after getting dolled up, they laughed at the view in front of them and the silliness of the boys that were hanging on the tree. Liam saw Ariel laughing hysterically and in an attempt to give her a wink he lost his balance and fell down but still managed to give her a wink anyway while groaning, making Ariel and others cackle even more.

"Did you break a bone ?" Damien asked Liam in hope that maybe his and Kai's calculations were right. Liam glarred at him and stood up dusting off the sand from his clothes and started walking fine.

"Looks like he didn't." Damien huffed and told kai with sadness lacing his voice. Kai gave him a pat on the back and replied, "Better luck next time, bro." The girls were very engaged and enjoying this duo's conversation too. The people especially the boys around them were too interesting and weird to not to give attention.

They sat on the chairs around the table waiting for the boys to climb down the tree. While Kai's attention turned towards his phone as a notification popped on his phone. He eyed the message and soon the light hearted vibe around him turned into a dark one.

"Are you fucking kidding me ?" He grumbled under his breathe, catching everyone's attention. His knuckles had gone white as he clutched the phone tightly.

"What happened kai ?" Liam came up and asked being worried about his friend's sudden change of behavior on seeing the message.

"Don't tell me it's your dad again ?"  Sebstian asked in a low voice folding his arms across his chest. Kai sighed, disappointment and anger visible on his face. Kai's group shared knowing faces while the other group was dumbfounded as to what was going on.

Daisy saw kai's condition and bit her lip wondering what was the message that made him so bothered she also noticed how tensed his shouldeders had gone.

"You guys go ahead, I will join later." Kai told his friends as he didn't want to ruin their camp too. The other group moved ahead not wanting to intrude on kai's personal matter except daisy who was a little hesitant to move ahead but still started taking tiny steps anyways thinking that she was not close enough to jump in, in his matter.

"But kai..." she heard stella's voice calling out to kai but Kai shut her down coldly by saying, "Stella, not now." She heard stella sigh and soon the shuffling of leaves under their feet hinting that they left kai alone and let him have some space.

Thousands of question were now floating around on daisy's mind. What was the message ? What did his dad do ? What was his and stella's relation ? And last but not least why was she even thing about him ? Why was she even concerned for him ? She shut her thoughts off not wanting to think about it much but she also knew it was not so much in her hands after all.
