It's another dark day and I'm just on a stroll like every other day after school. Where I live it's always dark and I'm too young to go see the bright light. I don't really know what that means, because I've only heard stories about it and one day I plan to go see the bright light. Now I am forgetting to tell you one thing, I'm a worm and I live in the ground. The reason my parents don't want me to see the bright light is because the outside part of where I live is dangerous.
The next day I went to school, and I sat down next to my friend Henry. He told me that once he got lost and he saw the bright light. He told me that at first you are blind because you can't see but, before he could see he came back down. I told him that we should go see the bright light because, I think we are old enough. The teacher looked at me and asked "So you want to go see the bright light?" I looked around the class and back at her and said " Yes mam." She left the class room and came back with the principal. He looked around and them pointed at me and the teacher nodded. He came over to me and told me that if I thought I was old enough we would go on a field trip to see the bright light. Of course my response was "I'm old enough sir."
When I got home that night I told my parents about the field trip. At first they weren't going to let me go because, they thought I was still to young. So no matter how much I begged they still wouldn't sign the papers and I couldn't go.
The next day at school we had to give the teacher the papers our parents were supposed to sign, but my parents didn't sign it. So I took my pen and singed their names, because I wasn't about to miss out on something like this. My teacher gave us a list of things we were going to need like lots of water and a little food but, mostly water. When I got home that day I started packing the waters into my bag. While I was doing that my mom came into the room and asked me what I was doing. I couldn't tell her what was really going on so I told her I was doing a project for school. She looked at me and then wished me good luck then left.
Finally the day came to see the bright light and I was really excited. I grabbed my bag and it seemed a little lighter than I remember but I didn't pay any attention to it. When I got to school my teacher asked me if I packed plenty of water and I told her yes. I got into the bus and we started our trip to see the bright light. After a 30 minute drive my teacher told us to get prepared because we were about to reach the bright light. In those few minutes I couldn't see anything and by then I knew we had reached it. Once I could finally see again I was amazed at what I saw. There was this green stuff all around us. Our teacher told us that the green stuff was called grass and that's what we live under. The grass was tall and it smelt really good. After a few minutes of our teacher telling us what everything was such as a tree. A tree is this really tall thing that has green stuff on it called leafs. Then there's the sky which was above us and it seemed to never end but it was really pretty. The most dangerous thing was the buildings. The teacher told us that those buildings are where the beast live and that we must never go there. Our teacher told us we could go explore so my friend and I started walking. The teacher told us we couldn't go far and that we had to be back in 20 minutes. Once it reached 15 minutes I started to head back and I realized my friend had left me. I started to walk and then I couldn't find my way back....I was lost. I took my bag off and opened it and all the waters were gone. My mom must have taken them out to use them. It started to get really hot and I came upon this black thing and I couldn't move anymore. The bottom half of me had fallen off. Right when I was about to give up the bus came and they helped me on. I was then rushed to the hospital. The doctor told me that he couldn't help me with my bottom and that I would have to live like that for the rest of my life.
Now when I have kids and they ask me why they can't go see the bright light, I'll look down at my bottom half and say "You'll learn the hard way why it's called the BRIGHT LIGHT."
