Tentacles

Earthquakes have been more frequent. Sinkholes started appearing in a pattern. People have disappeared in mass amounts, whole cities emptied. This phenomenon has caused extreme distress. Nowhere is safe. Robots have been sent into 'the tunnels'. None return.

I was sitting in my treehouse. A shabby thing it is. The earth is shaking. A small tentacle slithers out. It goes further and further. They're all around. Tentacles towering over our town.

The ground splits in zigzags. My tree falls down with a crash, some weird mucous is slathering the ground. So gross. Birds are everywhere, so are people in a panic state. Women shielding their kids, men rushing home.

I stare up in awe as the tentacle grows and curls down, plummeting and burrowing into the earth. It hits me. It's needle point pierced through my abdomen. Slimy, gross, pain. I get encased. I let it take over.
