AUTHOR'S POV

The morning sun filtered through the curtains, but Aena hardly noticed. She sat on the edge of the bed, her hands gripping the hem of her  t shirt. A dull ache radiated from her abdomen, but it wasn’t just physical discomfort that weighed her down. The thought of telling Abhimaan made her stomach twist

Abhimaan entered the room, catching sight of her tense posture. "Morning," he greeted, his voice gentle, his steps light. He sensed something was off immediately. "Hey, everything okay?" he asked, moving closer, concern coloring his words.

Aena opened her mouth but hesitated, the words sticking in her throat. She stared at her hands, trying to muster the courage.

How would she even start? The warmth in his eyes, though, softened her resolve. "I..." she stammered, biting her lip. "It's... nothing. I’m just feeling off."

But Abhimaan wasn’t one to brush things aside. He knelt in front of her, eyes searching her face. "You can tell me," he whispered, his tone encouraging, no hint of judgment or impatience.

Finally, Aena took a deep breath. "It's... my period," she admitted quietly, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Thank you for telling me," he said simply, as though it was the most natural thing in the world.

"Are the cramps bad?" he asked softly, breaking the silence. She nodded, still stunned. "Okay," he said, his voice filled with quiet determination. "How can I help?"

Without hesitation, he pulls out a soft blanket and gently drapes it over her. "I'll make you some ginger tea," he says, offering a small, reassuring smile. She tries to protest, but he holds up a hand. "You can argue when you're feeling better."

Abhimaan returns soon, a steaming cup in hand, the fragrance of ginger and cardamom wafting through the air.

He props her up with care and hands her the cup. "This should help with the cramps," he murmurs.

Aena looks at him, her eyes softening. "You didn't have to go through the trouble," she says, taking a sip.

"But I did," he replies, his voice light but affectionate. "It's in my job description as your husband."

Later in the day, Abhimaan sits beside her, a hot water bottle ready. As she rests, he massages her lower back in gentle, rhythmic motions.

"Is this helping?" he asks, his tone genuinely concerned. She closes her eyes and nods, a tear slipping down her cheek, moved by his thoughtfulness.

"Why the tears?" he asks, wiping it away with a thumb. "You make it seem so easy to be cared for," she whispers.

"It is," he says, smiling. "I’m here to make the hard days easier."

As the day progresses, Abhimaan distracts Aena with stories from his college days, jokes, and even a movie marathon with her favorite feel-good films. When she craves chocolate late in the afternoon, he doesn’t hesitate to rush out and grab her favorite bar.

In the evening, as the rain patters against the window, they sit together, wrapped in a blanket, with Abhimaan reading aloud from one of Aena’s favorite books. The day ends with warmth, the love between them deepened by this simple but profound care
