Leora isn't just any thief, she's the very best. Well, maybe District Five's best. And maybe it's all only self-proclaimed.
But that's not the point! Leora is a thief and that's the most important thing you need to know about her. She's fast, quick-witted, good with knives and sly like a fox - especially when she needs to escape from another poor Peacekeeper that thinks he finally caught her.
No one knows the name of the thief that steals from District Five's richest, trades the stolen goods on the black market and brings whatever she turned them into to the poor. No one except for a few children that have managed to catch a glimpse of her face and had to pinky promise they'll keep it a secret.
That is, until the word gets out right shortly before the reaping ceremony. In an effort to get rid of her once and for all, the District's mayor gladly takes the bribe to send her off to the Capitol.
Leora always knew stealing would get her into trouble one day - she just didn't expect a stab in the back from the people she was trying to help.
She knows she likely won't make it back home but that doesn't mean things are all that bad. When you've got the right people by your side, staring death in the eye isn't too terrible, right?
