EVANS POV:
Ever since that night she went out for her nightly walk A-star has been acting weird. Like isolating herself completely and getting extremely defensive if you try to talk to her about what happened or about anything really, if you get 'too close' she snaps at you and tells you to get out. I think I even saw her through the crack of her door praying, she's dead now, doesn't she understand God doesn't care for good people. I feel bad though, we were getting so close. She wasn't just like a friend she was a sister to me, it hurts to see her getting so distant all of the sudden. I need to talk to her.
I finally mustered up the courage to confront her about it. I knocked on the door harshly and demanded,
'Amy. We need to talk.'
I heard a few light footsteps and a click of a lock before the door opened. She rolled her eye at me and scoffed, sitting on her bed. I walked in and closed the door behind me and sat beside her. She shuffled away from me and my blood boiled but I moved past it and looked away from the floor and straight into her eye.
'What really happened that night, amy.'
'n-noth-'
'Amaya.'
'...' I saw the heartbreak in her eye, I immediately felt bad. I sighed and took her hand in mine, she shuddered and flinched.
'Amy, seriously. Everyone is so worried. You've been so distant'
'do-do-ont tou-ouch me.' I could see the stress building on her face.
'Tell me what happened that night.'
'Ev-'
'Tell me.'
'Ev.'
'Amy. Tell me right now' I lowered my eyebrows to show my annoyance and she gritted her teeth together with a furious look spread across her face,
'Amy-'
'unclean.'
'what?'
'... I-im u-uncl-lean.' Tears glossed over her dull hazel eye. My face relaxed as I tried to figure out what she meant, obviously it was difficult to talk about. A horrified look slapped across my face as I slowly realized what she meant.
'No...'
She pulled her hand away and began sobbing and shaking. That's why she was so scared of everyone's touch. I noticed her grasping her hands together tightly and muttering something under her breath. Presumably a stupid prayer made up by some bullshit church.
'Amy. Your not unclean, you don't need god. And god never listens anyway.'
She stares up at me, mortified
'Wh-what do yo-you mean?..'
'We're dead, we weren't sinners. We did nothing wrong, so why weren't we let into heaven if god loves all good? He doesn't want to save you, A-star, I'm sorry'
That was obviously not what she wanted to hear and it made her heart and entire world shatter even more but she needs to realise it before this whole "God will save me" thing goes too far. After a while of back and forth conversation of her claiming to be a 'sinner' and that she needs 'cleansed' by the 'lord' and me reassuring her that she's not a sinner, God only cares about the rich and powerful, meaning people like poor Amy have to suffer because of him, she finally came around to the fact that it was never her fault. It was a painful and emotional conversation but it's just what she needed. She smiled again after that, her teeth were relatively well looked after and brightened her smile, despite her rather demonic appearance she had the smile and personality to outshine any star ever. At least we cleared everything up, I'm glad to have A-star back.
