But Life Cannot Grant Wishes

I wish I could be that space in the sky
Where I stare and there's no clear end
To the mist that runs over a place I knew
And wipes it out, marking it insignificant

I want to be that person who sees you coming
And manages to build a wall so high
That you think the top is the bottom
So you stop trying before you're disappointed

I yearn for a time where I can sit at the top
And feel just as powerful and strong
As the man who sits at the bottom
Counting his soupy limbs to sell them

I long to fly away from here, and you, and me
To sit on a star-speckled ruin of stone
And watch as my entire beautiful future
Passes me by.
