The journey to Coruscant was an uneventful journey. I mostly stayed in my room mind constantly lingering on what had transpired at the party on Naboo. Stupid greedy man, even when not around me definitely makes sure he's not forgotten easily. I curse Jace. And I have wish so badly that my Jedi proctor had seen what he had done but I guess that's the will of the force or whatever benevolent being controls the will of the galaxy. I sighed to myself as I continued my gaze towards the ceiling in my room. Even though he wasn't there when Jace did he did, I could sense Obi-Wan's presence just outside the door. Even if my senses were as powerful as his, I never failed to notice when he would stand guard outside of my door. It was a slight comfort to know he was there. I sat up in the bed eyes fixated on the door before quietly moving towards the door. My mind floated back and forth on how it felt like I was taking up valuable time away from this war the Jedi sound their selves in. I didn't fully agree with this war and I couldn't even imagine how the Jedi, peacekeepers of the galaxy felt. Now I was almost one of them. Before I made it to the door the overhead announcements came on, informing all those aboard the vessel that we were landing on planet in Coruscant. Snapping back into the present, I slowly pressed the button on the door, my gaze on the panel as the doors slide open. I pulled my gaze from the panel to land upon the Jedi that stood in the hall before me.
"Is everything alright my lady" Obi-Wan asked as I exited the room.
I looked over at him and smiled "I promise it's alright to call me Toria" I turned to look down the hall where Padme and Anakin now stood deep in conversation "To you can I just be Toria?" I asked turning my attentions back to Obi-Wan who was also studying the figures at the end of the hall before he looked back at me.
"Of course, but I can promise that I won't referred to you as 'my lady'" He gave a genuine smile as he spoke moving to stand next to me "I promise I'll call you Tori"
I felt my cheeks heat up as he said my name before quickly turning on my heels to head down the hall. I linked arms with Padme and we made our way towards the entrance ramp on the ship as it landed on the platform. The ramp slowly dissents into the open position letting in a wave of coldness as me and Padme exit the ship. Once on the platform I let go of Padme and let myself wander over to the ledge, taking in the view of my new surroundings. It seemed so vast but yet so crowded. The large buildings placed so close together, speeders zooming every which way as if in a dance, and in the distance sat a building that looked so ancient so out of place.
"That's the Jedi Temple" Obi-Wan voice cut through the loud atmosphere like a melody. I turned towards him to see him looking at the same view as I before looking back.
"It's a beautiful building. Yet it seems out of place. Like the past meeting the present in this crowded city" My voice was soft as I spoke. I heard him let out a small laugh before he moved to my side.
"You're not wrong in that statement. The temple is old with the city being built up around it. But I assure you that the temple is quite a peaceful environment even when the city seems to not be" Obi-wan spoke even more gently as he gestured me towards the awaiting Supreme Chancellor, and his entourage waiting to greet me. I have met Chancellor Palpatine before on Naboo. He always seemed to be a strange power hungry man who had an act for getting what he wanted without even trying. I walked slowly towards the man who have me a strange smile.
"Ah, young senator Neviro. How wonderful to see you again my dear" Palpatine greeted placing his hand on my shoulder to guide me along towards his royal speeder "I'm glad you made it in time for this up and coming senate session. I feel as though your cause and movement will come though in strides my dear" His tone of voice me so melancholy as he helped me in to the speeder. I sat down near Padme and looked out to the city horizon. The last people to board the vessel where Obi-Wan, Anakin and Ashoka, then the speeder took off towards the capital.
Being in this open aired speeder made the feeling of being cold worse. Naboo was for the most part warm and inviting. The right temperature each planetary rotation, but because it was so industrialized Coruscant was the atmosphere here was cold sending chills down my spine as we landed in the hangar bay for the senators apartments. Parting ways with Padme I followed the Chancellor to the elevator making our way up to my new apartment. The elevator opened on the top floor of the building and the Chancellor lead the way down the hall of larger doors to one at the very end hall. With his back to the door he handed me a keypad"After you Senator" His smile growing bigger as I took the keypad from his hand.
Taking the keypad from him I opened the door to reveal a large living space. Moving into the apartment I took in my new surroundings. There was a large living room with a huge balcony looking over the city. The balcony wrapped around to the master bedroom which was also a large living space. Making my way back to the main living area where Palpatine and Obi-Wan stood waiting for my return.
"Are you sure it ok that I have a space like this? I'm grateful for it but I seems like a lot." My voice was shy as I spoke to Palpatine. I never imagined having my own living space let alone one such as this.
"Of course my dear. I have high hopes for your success in the senate so this is my thanks to you" Palpatine gave a short bow before turning to leave.
"Thank you Chancellor" I yell to him as the doors closed. I turned back to the living space slowly walking towards the balcony. I wrapped my arms around my chest tightly as I looked over the space.
"I didn't expect this.." I let my voice fall as I stopped on the balcony. I could hear Obi-Wan's foot steps behind me. I turned to look towards him "Is it always this cold here?"
"You'll get use to it. I promise" He spoke so softly stop a few spaces behind me "Tomorrow I'll show you the temple. But for now I think I'll leave you to get some rest." He bowed to me before turning to leave. I watched him walk to the door before I spoke up.
"Goodnight Master Obi-Wan"
He stopped for a moment before turning back to look at me.
"Goodnight Toria"
