CRISTINA stood on the dock at the Hughes', the backyard being full of people around the lake, as well as some of their friends from school and home. Samantha had invited a few of her friends that had houses around here in the summer, finally being able to hangout with her own friends as well. Jessie had taken an interest in Luca, the two hanging out all night. " This isn't what you usually do at a party", Luke said from behind her, the girl sipping on her drink.
She shrugged, " No one to talk to".
" Ouch", he said, the girl letting out a breathy laugh. " You okay? If you wanna talk we can",
Cristina shook her head, " No I'm good. Just not really feeling a party, I guess",
She wasn't lying, she just wasn't in the mood to entertain random conversations. Luke hummed, " Yeah me too, kinda sick of talking to all of the people we spend almost every summer with",
The two sat beside each other, Cristina offering him some of her drink. He kindly accepted it, the girl touching his hair, " Almost time for a cut", she joked.
Luke groaned, " Don't remind me, mom has been on my ass for weeks about it". Cristina laughed, " Listen I need to tell you something, since I don't want you to hear it from Jack or Quinn",
" Shoot", she nodded, waiting for him to tell her whatever his news was.
" I'm going to Jersey after I finish my second year at Michigan", he said, the girl immediately looking at him. " So I'm gonna be living there after this year",
Cristina practically jumped to her feet, " Luke, that's amazing! That's what you've always wanted, right?",
He nodded, standing up as well. " Yeah, but we're only gonna get one year at Michigan together, then it's over".
She scoffed, " Luke, we will make it the best year ever. And, this is awesome. This is even better than going to university together",
" But we've always wanted to go to university together",
" I know, but, this is an insane opportunity. I'm so proud of you", she said, hugging the much much taller boy. Luke wrapped his arms around the girl, his head resting on top of hers, " We will be going out every single night this year, to make up for the times we will lose".
" When you say it like that, you'd think I'm dying".
Cristina laughed, " Well, this is great. Now I actually have a reason to go to devils games",
Luke chuckled, " Jack wasn't enough?",
" Nope, you're my favourite Hughes".
The two stood there for what felt like forever, just staring into each others eyes. Luke forgot what it felt like to feel like her number one, since they hadn't spoken much until this summer. Cristina smiled at him, placing her two hands on the side of his face. She was genuinely excited for the boy. Yeah, they wouldn't be able to experience all of university together, but she didn't care. They got to do highschool together, and this was something that Luke had always wanted.
Before he could even process what he was doing, he quickly dipped his head down and placed his lips onto hers, his hands automatically going to her waist, like it was something he was used to, even though it was. Their lips moved in sync, like nothing had changed. Cristina was on her tippy toes, eventually pulling away from the boy. " That won't be able to happen when you're in Jersey",
" Don't remind me", Luke joked before the girl reconnected their lips once again.
