Kaeya sat silent at his ex-brother's bar. That was unusual for Kaeya. Lately Kaeya could hear the voices of his dead khaenri'ah relatives. They were telling him to do things. The requests were...odd. They all wanted him to go somewhere, but none spoke of where the location was. He couldn't stop thinking about it. Kaeya has long forgotten what his family sounded like. But he instantly remembered every single one of them. His dad, his sister. His mom. And another strange voice... he couldn't remember who this one belonged to. Kaeya has a very good memory, he remembers EVERYTHING from that night. But he recalls no little boy in his family. No cousins, no brothers. His mom was about to say something but was interrupted by diluc. "Kaeya, are you there?" 'Hm? Oh, my apologies master diluc. Need something from little ol me?' "Tsk, if you are just going to stare at the drink why even buy it." 'I'm savoring the flavor. Did you want a sip?' Kaeya smirked. He was purposely getting under his skin. If this curse is getting worse, he would rather not make amends just to leave again. "Kaeya, enough. You can space out and drink all you want at your house. Taverns closed for tonight." 'Oh? How cold. And I'm the one with the cryo vision?' Kaeya got up from his seat and made his way to headquarters. If he couldn't figure out the name of the little boy, he would just work until he couldn't even remember hearing him. "Oh! Captain Kaeya, perfect timing. Acting grand master asked me to get you. She needs to discuss something with you." Just great. He needed more on his plate right now. Only for Jean, she works too hard. 'Hmm. ok thank you for letting me know. Goodnight amber.' "mhm goodnight!" Kaeya swiftly made his way to jeans office. 'Jean? You need me?' "OH! Yes, please have a seat." "We have had a ton of missing children's reports over the past month. These kids come to Mondstadt all by themselves. Get put with a family. And suddenly go missing?" "That is strange. Does anyone have details about these kids?' Kaeya really wanted to ask if they had stars in their eyes. He doesn't know why but something is telling him this is not good. "Hmm not anything out of the ordinary. Anyways I would like you to help find out where these kids went. I know you have your ways of getting information." 'Understood jean, leave it to me. I promise I will figure it out.' "Thank you kaeya, it means a lot." 'hm. Goodnight jean.' "yes goodnight kaeya." Kaeya was back in his office when the voices started again. He wasn't listening until he heard his mothers voice again. "Kaeya do you know of the dark woods? The bedtime story I used to tell you and your sister?" yes, the dark woods had a circus inside and it was supposedly very fun. Kaeya couldn't figure out why his mother brought that up. All kaeya knew was that wasn't the original story. The original was messed up. The more kaeya thought about it, the story sounded similar to the missing children's report. Was his mom helping? Kaeya made his way out of the headquarters. He was gonna go to the dark woods. Afterall its more fun if you go alone at night.

Diluc had a pit in his stomach. He had a bad feeling about what was wrong with kaeya. He was quiet today at the tavern. He was usually trying to get a kick out of everyone at the tavern. Whether it be another knight, treasure hoarders, even diluc himself. But tonight? Nothing. He would never admit it outloud but he was worried about kaeya. He was spacing out all night and barely drank. Usually Diluc would be happy that his brother wasn't drinking. But something felt wrong,so wrong. He was gonna ask Kaeya but he got angry again and kicked him out. He was gonna figure out what was wrong with Kaeya whether he liked it or not. He was getting ready to close the bar and sneak out again at his usual back exit. But someone beat him to it. Kaeya was rushing out towards the water. Damn it. Kaeya was ice bridging. It would take diluc at least 15 minutes to catch up.

The closer he got the louder the voices became. He had to get to the woods fast. He had to know. What or who was going to be there. Along the way Kaeya tried to avoid monsters but got caught in a fight when he was nearly there. He could barely see. Kaeya discarded his eyepatch to finish the fight faster. But when he took it off the monster was gone. Kaeya stopped. WHat was that? No time to think he had to keep going. They NEEDED him to keep going. Kaeya ran the rest of the way. In the middle of the woods there was a circus. Just like his mother had said. Kayak mouth was agape. He couldn't believe it. Kaeya walked inside and he saw all the kids there. They were laughing. A show was happening. Keaye looked closer at the circus cast.

Diluc was a couple feet behind kaeya. He watched as his brother tried to fight the...air? What was going on? He was about to stop him when kaeya took his eyepatch off. He stopped his eye...it was..glowing? He watched as kaeya looked amazed at nothing. He also watched as kaeya walked into something and disappeared. "KAEYA?!" Dilcu ran to where he saw his brother leave but he found nothing. Diluc felt weird. He didn't know what was happening. But something told him that if he didn't get kaeya out of there. He would disappear too.

"JEAN!" "Diluc?! What's going on?!" "Jean, it's kaeya!! He was running to the woods so I followed him. He was acting really weird. Out of nowhere he disappeared!" "What?! Tell me the story in full detail, now."

Kaeya felt he knew those people in the circus and he couldn't explain it. That was until his mother walked onto the stage. But something was wrong..she looked wrong. She looked like something you would only dream of in your worst nightmares. He couldn't move. The rest of his family joined his mother. And all the kids were just laughing and clapping. This wasn't fun. He ran to where he entered but it wasn't there anymore. He looked around in a panic. He saw curtains. He needed to get to the curtains. The only problem was it was behind his family. He looked at his mother and all she did was smile and move to the side. The rest of them got the hint and moved also. He cautiously stepped forward and when he realized they wouldn't hurt him he ran. He was in a hall. It was long, he didn't know how long he was running for. That was until he saw a cage. With a small boy inside? Kaeya stepped closer till he was in front of the boy. "Hello? Are you ok? Dont worry ill get us out, ok so don't worry." 'shut up. Please just kill me.' kaeya paused as the boy looked up at him. It was the boy in his head. But this boy... was him. Kaeya was horrified. How was he there as a little boy but also right here. He couldn't understand. His head hurt. He tried to remember. He closed his eyes and thought but he couldn't remember. Why couldn't he remember? He opened his eyes again and he was gone. How'd he get in the cage!? Where's his main body? He didn't want to be in this one anymore. He was mutated. They did this to him. Who's they? "Kaeya, you are finally up! Mommy was so worried. You've been asleep since the destruction. I was getting worried." kaeya couldn't wrap his head around it. What did she mean? Why was she smiling like that? "It seems you don't understand. You were asleep. Whatever dream you were in we couldn't get you out. We've been talking to you, telling you stories. But you still wouldn't wake up." what... he was dreaming? No surly diluc would come to get him any second. Right? Kaeya couldn't stop crying. He didn't want to be here anymore. He wasn't a part of a big mission. He didn't have a brother. He was a captain. Now he was just kaeya. He hated being kaeya. He started talking. He was asking his mom to kill him. He didn't want to be kaeya. He wanted to die. His mother screamed at him as he banged his head against the bars. He didn't have to stay here. He wouldn't. If she
wouldn't do it. He would.

Jean and diluc paused. "Jean did you feel that?" "yes. It felt like... the world..went upside down?" "That was weird. Anyway, what were we discussing right now?" "oh, umm, I don't recall. Diluc couldn't pinpoint it but he felt like something important was missing. Like something was ripped from him. He felt like he wasn't diluc anymore. Like he disappeared and was replaced with who he was now. He felt...empty. What was he missing so bad?
