Chapter 6

Y/N's POV

"We have an emergency!" A nurse was panting heavily as she held onto the door, looking at us with panic and worry. We immediately rushed to her and asked about what happened.

"A woman in her 20s got shot near the back and right below her heart! She needs an immediate operation! Doctor Jihyo and the other doctors are currently operating on other patients and Doctor Jihyo told me to come find you." She explained in one breath without even breathing. I nodded my head, absorbing her words and processing the situation as fast as i can.

"Okay, lead the way!" I said and she immediately nodded her head then led me and Mina to the operating room. The said patient was already in the operating room, lying on the bed unconscious. I quickly went to the changing room and changed into the surgeon outfit, which is dark blue shirt and dark blue pants with a mask and a light blue hat. I then stepped into the operating room after making sure to wear the gloves over my hands. Mina did the same, changing into the surgeon outfit and wearing gloves over her hands, she's my assistant so it's a no wonder that she will assist me with the operation as well.

We then started with the operation and honestly, it was tough. The bullet was literally near to the spine, almost next to it, it took a lot of time getting that bullet out without causing any damage to the spine. As for the one below her heart, it was tough too since her heart was beating and i had to make sure not to let the bullet touch her heart. We got both bullets out successfully after struggling for who knows how long, maybe it took us hours to get them out.

The operation was a success and i walked out of the operating room only to be met with the parents of the patient. They were extremely worried and immediately asked me about their child with worry and panic, their eyes showing hope.

"Your child is perfectly fine. We managed to get the bullets out of her body. However, she has to be hospitalized for the time being as we need to monitor her condition." I said with a small professional smile and they sighed in relief. The mother put her hands over her chest, letting out dramatic sighs of relief, while the father relaxed his shoulders with a sigh of relief.

After that, i went to find Mina in a nearby room and Jihyo was already inside by the time i stepped into the room, which is used for discussing about patients' conditions. The moment i walked into the room, Jihyo instantly gave me a bright proud smile.

"Good job on the operation, Y/N! I knew you can do it!" She proudly said and patted my back multiple times while Mina gave me a thumbs up with a small smile, her way of saying good job to me.

"Anyways, the patient. Who is it?" I asked, changing the topic. Jihyo passed me a folder filled with documents and i took the very first piece of paper out of the folder, knowing that the paper contains all the information on the patient.

"Apparently, she's turning 27 this year. She's a healthy woman, no health issues and such, so her medical records are very less." Jihyo stated as i read through the patient's information. I furrowed my eyebrows when i read that she just moved to our country, her move-in was very recent.

"The police will be coming here tomorrow for the patient." Jihyo added on and i nodded my head, acknowledging and taking the information into my mind.

"So who will be in-charge of her?" I asked and looked up from the document, looking at my boss.

"You since you were the one who did the operation." She said, nodding her head at me, and i hummed in response since i didn't have anything to say. We then continued discussing about the patient.

"So that's about it." Jihyo said after we have went through the documents on the patient, her medical records and her current condition. We then walked to the patient's room and quietly stepped inside the room as she was not awake.
