Ughhh another positively boring day at school. I'm glad I studied for that Celestial history quiz or I wouldn't have known any of the answers. I stretch my arms upwards before slinging my backpack over my shoulders and slamming shut my locker. You must be wondering why a Goddess like me is going to a high school, well you'd be surprised at how similar my life is to that of the humans on earth. I'm the Goddess of Aquarius but you can call me Aqua for short, I'm your typical teenager well...aside from being older than much of the known world and having powers...maybe I'm not typical...or a teenager... Anyway, I go to Olympia Academy along with the other 11 Horoscope Gods and Goddesses along with various other dieties and heavenly beings in order to educate ourselves in the history of the heavens, otherwise known as mythology to humans, and to engage in combat to strengthen our powers.
Now you may be asking why I'm still in high school. Good question :). Well all Gods and Goddesses need to replenish their physical bodies after a long period of time in order to dispose of unnecessary attachments or memories that we obtain. As all the elders say, "Sentiments like those only hinder our judgement and power." I don't remember anything from my past form but I hear lots of stories. Apparently I was this very powerful God that had the ability to flood the Earth ten times over. But now I'm a young Goddess with short pale blue hair, dark blue eyes, and as you can already tell, a talkative mouth.
Our job as the Horoscope deities is to grant wishes made upon stars depending on what kind of wish it is. For example, I grant wishes that have to do with water, health, and knowledge. There are a lot of responsibilities that come along with being a celestial being but it does have its perks. For one thing we don't have many rules relative to the people on earth. I mean I see Leo beat up at least fifty gods a day, maybe a hundred if he's in a bad mood.
Oh but there is one rule that has dire consequences, as Gods and Goddesses, we must not fall in love. I know you may be flipping through your mythology textbooks to prove me wrong but those predicaments are exactly why the elders established this law, love has only caused wars and pain among Gods, so we should do without it. In fact I've heard rumors about one God who had breached the law only a millennium ago. There was actually a 13th horoscope sign, Ophiuchus, who fell in love with a beautiful Goddess. When he went to ask the elders for permission to marry her, they threatened to banish him to the depths of hell. When he tried to ask the Goddess for help, she turned her back on him and denied any relationship. After that, he was never heard from again. It gives me shivers just thinking about it but I'm confident that I won't falter, who needs love anyway?
"Hey Aqua!! HELLO??"
"Huh?" I stop daydreaming and look around.
"Down here." says an annoyed voice.
I look down and smile at a short girl with long brunette hair and glimmering green eyes, "Haha sorry Gemma, I didn't notice you there."
She scrunches her face, "Why'd I have to get puny this body? Why couldn't I be tall or at least buff or something." Gemma or the Goddess of Gemini, is my closest friend at this school. I laugh at her whining.
"Were you spacing out again?" she asks with a devious grin.
I impulsively rub my face, expecting to find traces of permanent ink. "Did you draw on my face again?"
She giggles, "Not this time. But I should have."
"Pssh you're such a great friend." I say sarcastically.
"I know."
As we walk down the hallway to our next class, Elemental training, I catch a glimpse of a dark figure standing at the end of the hall. A tall, lanky boy is leaning against the lockers with a small book in his hand.
"Oh it's Scorpio." Gemma murmurs quietly. "He's kind of scary, don't you think?"
I squint my eyes and try to get a closer look at his sterile, pale face hiding behind long strands of his black hair.
"I don't really know him all that well even if he's in all our Zodiac-related classes." I reply.
"I heard he almost killed someone once." Gemma whispers cautiously with one hand cupped over her mouth as if to isolate her words from the beings around us.
"Have you been gossiping with Virgo again? You know that isn't true." I laugh.
"I am the ruler of Gemini, it's in my blood to gossip." She puffs up her chest confidently.
I giggle but when I look up, I catch Scorpio staring at me with his dark, piercing red eyes and I don't hesitate to look away. Uhh it's just a rumor right?
Author's note and Disclaimer: Hi readers :) I wasn't suppose to start this until I reached a good stopping point in my other work, Reverse Harem Cafe! (pls check it out) but I'm impatient. I probably won't work on this until then but here's a teeny bit, hope you guys like it so far but most of it is just intro and boring background info. I've been pretty obsessed with this horoscopes. I know, tell me it's not real, IT'S STILL INTERESTING. Anyway, this is not meant to insult or stereotype people's horoscope signs, in fact I like all of them. And I do not know much mythology so I'll be making up a lot of it, sorry ; v ;. And the images I used in the cover are not mine so all credit goes to the amazing artists who drew them. Okay...i'm done, thanks for reading <3!
