Leon's POV

As Marquis and i walked through the brick archway and into the bustling street I saw a lot of things that i didn't really understand, such as people with brooms that looked no different to the one i had at home to sweep the floors. Marquis began guiding me into a shop called *Madam Malkin's* and showed me to a section of clothes that looked much like what he wore. "This is where we'll get your uniform" Marquis said with a bright smile, and older lady began walking over to us and said "I'm Madam Malkin and i'll be getting you ready for school i presume?" and with a smile left us again to fetch a robe to tailor.

Several hours later after getting everything necessary for my looming first day Marquis said "only one thing left on the list, a wand!" with a huge beam on his face, we walking into a shop called *Olivanders* and the scent of freshly cut wood and dust hit my nose, I looked around and all i saw was boxes upon boxes of what i assumed to be wands "H-hello?" i shouted timidly as Marquis gently pushed me to the counter, a man with greying curly hair and a beard appeared around a corner "Hello child, you're here for your wand?" although he seemed to be asking kindly i couldn't help but feel uneasy, the air in the shop seemed somewhat groggy and tense. "Y-yes sir, i'm not sure which one to pick though" the man looked puzzled as i finished my sentence "oh no dear boy the wand chooses the wizard, not the other way around" it was my turn to look puzzled now as the man whom i now had deduced must be Mr Olivander, looked me up and now muttering incoherently while he did so. "AHA here you go young sir" he said handing me a dark  oddly shaped wand "give it wave then" as he said that a cold feeling ran up my fingertips and the wand almost shuddered, a beam of light erupted from the tip and sent a tea cup flying "IM SO SORRY" i shouted hastily while putting the wand on the counter in front of me. "no worries young boy it happens all the time" Olivander said, kindly this time. He handed me another wand this time lighter in colour and with speckles in it, when i held it this time i felt an overwhelming warmth and the scent of freshly chopped wood got stronger, almost making me cough, i flicked my wrist and a box floated gently from the shelves and landed lightly on the counter. "Ah well there you are then, cherry wood with a dragon heart string nice and supple, 8 inches, that'll be 5 gallions please" As Marquis and i left the shop i heard Olivander muttering again, but it seemed to be aimed at me "that wand, i've been waiting for that one to go, i wonder what that boy will do". although slightly unsettled i was also intrigued, i wondered what i'd do too.

As i lay in bed later that same night i wondered more about what the strange man said in the shop, what's so special about this wand? why did it choose me? as i drifted off to sleep i dreamed of what magic awaited me when i got on the train in 2 weeks.
