July 2010
"So this is the place?" Hwayoung and the girls stood in front of the dormroom.
"It's the one and only kid." Qri stated the obvious.
"Unnie! Don't be so rude!!" Soyeon coughed.
"I stated the answer! That's what she asked right?" Qri shook her head.
"If she's really sharing our room then how do we?..." Boram figeted trying to find the right answer.
"Let us be more welcoming of our new member after all we will be living with her. Don't mind them babydoll they just a lil pent up with you bein' here." Jinyoung opened the keys as she politely gestures Hwayoung to enter the dorms.
She was attacked by the wierd smell of perfume and sweat. She held her nose in disgust.
"What is this coming from!?" Hwayoung resisted the urge to gag.
Suddenly all the girls looked at Hyomin at the culprit.
"Why are y'all lookin' at me like that!? I ain't the only ones with sweaty clothes!!" Hyomin got so mad her Busan accent broke out.
"The difference is we make sure to wash them. You on the other hand just leave it. For someone who's supposedly sexy you act more like a five-year-old who can't clean herself." Eunjung pointed out smugly.
"I oughta slap you-" Hyomin lunged at her but Qri held both of her hands.
"You make my job hard sometimes you two! Let's just clean up here so we can welcome the new kid." Qri and the girls began cleaning up the dormroom.
Soyeon picked up her raggy clothes and took them to the laundry. Eunjung grabbed a duster and cleaned the furniture. She hated seeing so much dust that she screamed a few times. Boram put music so the mood can improve. Qri was in charge preparing the new space for Hwayoung and Jinyoung was in charge of the cooking.
"Pass me the salt won't ya dear?" Jinyoung asked Hyomin. The elder sprinkled a bit of it on the soup she was boiling.
"I wanted to ask. How do you feel about the new girl. I didn't say anything since it would have been rude?" Hyomin asked.
"My opinion on things doesn't matter in the end. Our agency invited her here and this unnie will welcome her."
"Are sure we should be celebrating unnie? Something doesn't right about this. What if they're trying to sabotage our group?"
"Now that's crazy talk! I think you're thinkin' too hard into this. That's enough conversation, we're here to welcome her and that's it. Will ya please be a darling and help me serve?" Jinyoung hushed the conversation.
Hyomin was always known as the girl who speaks before she thinks. That mouth of hers has gotten them into trouble more than she can count. Of course everyone is feeling uneasy about the new guest, but Jinyoung had to get them to cooperate. If that meant another mouth to feed then so be it. She was in no position to voice her opinions. All she wanted to keep the group united.
"Here you go hon some warm Dokbal soup Gwangju style." Jinyoung served all the girls fresh Chicken Gomtang Soup. Almost immediately all the girls drooled in hunger at the aroma.
"Wow unnie it's so delicious..." Jiyeon gasped.
"It's like eomma's cooking!" Qri took a whiff of the aroma.
"What are you waiting for let's dig in!!" Boram took a sip of that soup.
"And you tell us we act like children. You're the biggest child!" Hyomin pointed fingers.
"Come on Hwayoung whatcha waitin' for. Eat." Jinyoung gestured Hwayoung to eat.
"It's just... I don't get..."
"Eat the damn food girl!!" Hyomin slammed the table resulting in Eunjung and her own cup spilling
"You knocked over my drink Hyomin-ah!!" Eunjung cried out. With an angry sighed she wiped her now stained shirt.
"Hyomin is a little hot tempered with her words." Soyeon apologized.
"It ain't my fault this wallflower isn't eating!" Hyomin side eyed.
"Please keep those thoughts to yourself. You don't make yourself look good by acting like a brat." Qri said.
"Why can't there ever be a normal dinner." Jiyeon sighed as she quietly ate her soup.
"Wow so this happens between you unnies every single day? Count me in!" Hwayoung's sudden mood change sacred the girls. For a second ago she was acting very coy, but now she acted as if she was reuniting with longtime friends.
The girls just continued eating.
"How do you feel about being part of us?" Asked Qri.
"Excited obviously!! Probably..." Hwayoung scratched her head.
"Does she have a personality disorder?" Eunjung raised an eyebrow.
"Fifty percent excited and fifty percent shocked. To be honest, I was just gonna be an actress like my sis, but then they told me I was a great candidate to be a new member so I was like sure. I was not expecting it to be so soon." Hwayoung stated.
"We were sorta shock as well. We kinda only found out just a few minutes before meeting you. We were told to come meet you. As I said before I'm Jinyoung the oldest so you can come to me if you need somethin'" Jinyoung said flashing her unnie smile.
"Unnie is kind to everyone, but doesn't mean I have my eye on you. There are still some things I don't know." Eunjung warned.
"Yeah, don't think I'll share everything." Jiyeon also warned.
"That's fine, I'm supposed to bring my luggage tomorrow. As long as you're nice with me there won't be any problem." Hwayoung said with an almost too nice tone. Both Jiyeon and Eunjung narrowed their eyes.
"Actually it's sorta cool we get a new member. It gets too crazy with these girls fighting. You seem like a nice girl." Boram said with more enthusiasm.
"Mianhe unnie. I had no idea were older, I almost thought you were the maknae." Hwayoung apologized. Boram got a tick mark at the remark.
"COME ON! JUST BECAUSE I'M SHORT DOESN'T MAKE ME ANY YOUNGER! I'M OLDER DAMN IT!!" Boram threw a fit.
"You are too old to be throwing fits." Qri consoled her.
"Now that we have gotten acquaintaned with you Hwayoung-ah. Lemme do the honors a do a lil toast for our new guest. We T-ara welcome Hwayoung-ah!! Today marks a new era for us. I'm like a mother raising another child to the family!" Jinyoung made a formal toast for the new member.
"I'm still skeptical but I'll do it." Eunjung followed, slowing tipping against hers
"I still have my eye newbie." Jiyeon warned, almost slamming it.
"Now I share the room with an Amazon. Wae!" Boram said as she reluctantly thrusted her cup against Hwayoung's.
"Just don't give me a headache and we'll get along." Qri said bluntly.
"Why can't you girls say something nice for once." Soyeon said a little peeved. Happily tipping her cup.
"I'm still the center at the end of the day. Make sure you stay out of my way." Hyomin said in a hoity tone.
"So these are the unnies I'll share with. Sis was right they are crazy. I'll do better than every one of them just watch." Hwayoung though with a strange smile that shared a hint of deceit. It seemed Jiyeon may have been right about her.
There was much more than she was currently letting on.
And so, T-ara ended the day with a movie night before Hwayoung laid next to Jiyeon, unaware of the seed that has been planted in front of them.
