•CHAPTER 27•

Saturday - A Few Weeks Later
Icelynn's POV

I met up with my girls Lauryn and April for brunch at this breakfast spot everyone in HTown knew about, just to catch up and have girl talk. I haven't seen them since somebody shot at Kass that night at the club. I heard he was doin' okay but out of respect for Matt I kept my distance from Kasseem and the people affiliated with him.

"What's wrong Ice? Why you lookin' so sad?" April asked with a concerned look on her face.

It was the anniversary of Isaiah's death but I didn't want to get into detail about it. I was learning how to be okay with the fact that my baby was gone. It still hurts, but I'm able to say that I'm okay.

"It's nothin' girl, I started my period and I'm cramping really bad. That's all." I lied while picking at my food that I barely wanted. "What's been up with you Lo?" I tried changing the subject so the focus could be off of me.

"Girl I got this offer to come dance at Covergirls on the Eastside. The owner was at my job a few weeks back and gave me his card." Lauryn reached in her purse and slid the card on the table.

I picked it up and Ray's name and information was clear as day on the back of it. "You know he's dead right?" I looked up at Lauryn who had a surprised look on her face.

"Oh em gee, yes I heard about what happened to him but I didn't think it was true. He was so fine too. I hate that they got him so soon." She said sipping her mimosa.

"I heard about that. They think it was somebody related to him too." April added in.

"Isn't Matthew his son or something? Do he know who could've done it?" Lauryn asked looking dead in my face. She was nosey as hell but that was my girl.

"Yeah that's his father, but they weren't close. He didn't know what happened or who it could be that killed him. Ray had a lot of people after him so it could've been anybody." I shrugged and kept my thoughts to myself.

My mind has been foggy for the past few days and I didn't want to believe that my boyfriend killed his own father but I was slowly being convinced.

"Whoever it was is crazy as hell. They was bold enough to come up into his place of business and kill him!" Lauryn said cutting into her pancakes.

"You still thinking about working at Covergirls after all that?" April asked staring at her.

"I don't know. Ice what you think girl?" Lauryn asked but I was so mesmerized by the familiar face that I came in contact with a few weeks ago. Brandon. The fine, tall man was dressed in a black Dior tee, black cargo shorts and black and white Dior shoes. His silver jewelry complimented the outift and I just knew he smelled good too. Brandon was talking to the person at the register which was a guy, he then dapped him up and walked towards my direction. I didn't even think he noticed me sitting here.

My gaze never shifted from him
until Lauryn snapped her fingers in my face, "You alright girl? You been acting weird all morning."

"Yeah girl I'm cool I just—" I didn't notice that Brandon was standing right in front of me until I heard his soft spoken voice call out my name.
