Toadette loved to solve mysteries. She would search the Internet almost daily to find something interesting that was unsolved. She wanted to be an investigator, however, she pretty much was one already. She was very good at finding clues, lost objects and sometimes even missing people. The Mushroom Kingdom respected her and loved her for what she does and for who she is.
However, one day, she heard about a factory that was called ''Wario's Fast Food Factory''. People said the factory was haunted and that the owner of it and his friends died and went on to haunt the factory and curse it.
Toadette thought these rumors were very silly, she knew ghosts weren't real and she also knew that a building being cursed couldn't really happen. However, there was something that caught her attention. Apparently, Wario and his friends actually did go missing. This made her want to go to the place and investigate it, however, she didn't want to get lost in there. She asked her parents if they would allow her to let her go.

-Hey mom, can I go take a walk for a bit?
-Sure, sweetie! Just make sure to return soon!
-Alright, bye!
-Bye! Stay safe!

She didn't say what place she was actually going to go to. She quickly grabbed a hat and her phone and then quickly ran out the door.
The factory was kinda far away from her house, which meant that she would have to walk a lot.

-Honestly, I'm kinda scared to go to this place. What if the rumors are actually true? What if I'll never see mom and dad again?!

She tried to calm herself down, she knew ghosts weren't real... right?
She eventually reached a park which was kinda close to the factory's location. She sat down on a bench since she was very tired and decided to pull her phone out and start texting her brother, Toad.

-Hey Toad, have you heard about Wario's Fast Food Factory?
-Yes Toadette, I have heard about it. Why are ya asking me?
-Well, I kinda want to go there and investigate. Do you think that's a good idea?
-What?! No! That's a horrible idea! Don't go there!
-Oh Toad, do you really believe in ghosts?
-Look, I don't want you to risk anything! The Mushroom Kingdom would be so much worse without you!
-Toad, I'm sure I'll be safe. Stop being so panicked.
-It isn't going to be my fault if you aren't going to return to your house today.

Toadette sat a bit more and then she got up and started walking again. She constantly reminded herself that the rumors aren't true and that everyone is just scared for no reason.
When she finally reached the factory, she was surprised. The factory was very big.
She opened the squeaky door and then went into the factory.
The factory was very dark. There were no lights, which meant Toadette had to use the flashlight from her phone to be able to see anything. She went into the machinery and she started hearing strange things.

-Why do I hear quiet door squeaks? Is anyone here?!

She heard more and more. She started to get panicked. She went back to the entrance.

-SHOW YOURSELF, COWARD- Wait... There is... nobody here...?

She was surprised to see that there was nobody there. She continued exploring.
She found another entrance. It was very big and spacious.

-Why is this room so big? Why are there 2 entrances but 0 exit doors?

She was starting to get a little unsettled, however, she kept reminding herself that ghosts aren't real.

-Ghosts aren't real, they aren't real. These are all just rumors and I'm going to be okay, I'm going to be okay...

She kept exploring, but then, she heard something strange... A music box was playing from the office. She quickly ran over there to see what was happening, however, she didn't find anything.

-WHAT WAS THAT?!

She was actually disturbed now. The music box was eerie and when she ran over to see what was causing it, it stopped. She ran back to an entrance and then went to a door, but to her surprise...

-NO, NO, NO! PLEASE! OPEN, OPEN THE DOOR!

She was trapped. The door was locked and there was no key to unlock it. She ran to the other entrance and she banged on the door multiple times.

-NO, THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING! PLEASE, OPEN THE DOOR!

She started crying. She should have listened to Toad, however, she didn't. There were no windows so she couldn't break them to get out. But then, she thought of something else.

-OH, WAIT... I C-CAN USE M-MY PHONE TO C-CALL THE P-POLICE...

She was breathing heavily. She felt like she was going to have a heart attack. She then realized her phone battery was at 2%.

-NO, WHY, WHY IS IT AT 2%?! WHY MUST THIS HAPPEN TO ME?!

She cried even more. She fell on the ground and didn't move. She knew it was the end of her story and there was nothing she could do about it. However, she then heard a voice. It sounded like Luigi's voice. The voice said: ''Come here. I know how to get you out of here.''
Toadette was very happy. She instantly went to where the voice came from to get out.

-YES, THANK YOU! LUIGI, THANK YOU-... W-where are you...?

Luigi wasn't there. She started hallucinating and there was nothing she could do to stop it.

-...

She couldn't even speak anymore. All that could be heard was her cries for help, but nobody could hear them from outside.
She went to the office and sat under the desk, but then, she saw something on the monitor.
Mario's face was on the monitor. It was getting bigger and bigger and then Mario came out of the computer.

-WHAT?! NO! LEAVE ME ALONE!

Toadette ran to an entrance. Mario was slowly following her and she was banging very loudly on the door.

-PLEASE, SOMEONE, HEAR ME! I NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE!

After that, the ghosts of Wario and his friends caught up to her. She stared at them and she couldn't believe what she was seeing.

-NO, PLEASE! LEAVE ME ALONE! I-I DON'T WANT TO DIE!

She backed up into a corner. Mario caught up to her and he started dragging her away by her legs.

-NO, PLEASE! LET ME GO! I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO YOU!

Mario dragged her into the office and he pinned her to a wall and started to punch her in her stomach. He then started ripping her skin off. When he was done, he left her there to die slowly.
Toadette couldn't even speak anymore. She couldn't scream. Eventually, after a lot of suffering, she died.

The next day...

Some people reported screams coming from the building. Police officers came to the building and Toadette's dead body was found in the office. The building was shut down for good and was planned to be demolished.
Toadette's parents were devastated. The Mushroom kingdom wasn't going to be the same without her.

It was truly a tragedy for the kingdom.
